Does the Raspberry Pi 4 officially support micro-SD cards with more than 32GB?

With current versions it is at least not recommended to use cards with more than 32Gb, as this seems to cause some problems. I know that it's technically possible but you have to reformat the card to Fat32 and somewhere I read about having to add some lines to the config for stability reasons. Is th...

Re: Raspberry Pi3v - what size capacitor?

Kind of a double post. See here for a similar thread i was posting in: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=110249&p=1437454#p1437454 Nice to find someone with a similar problem. what about connecting it to the gpio port instead of building it into the cable?

would this one work?

Re: Motorola Lapdock Atrix with the Pi

Maybe one of the many usv solutions could do the trick. But most of them cost more than i payed for the 3a+ and the lapdock combined... Anyone able to make a scetch of a simple one-adapter-cable-with-integrated-capacitor solution that theoretically should do the trick? Attached is a picture of the a...

Re: Motorola Lapdock Atrix with the Pi

I now have tried using the Lapdock with a Pi3A+. It boots up and i can even sort of use it but sometimes it crashes just like the Pi3B. Usually if i try anything needing wifi. Example: Booting to Raspbian Desktop and starting the Browser works, but as soon as i try to open a page the RasPi reebots ~...

Re: Motorola Lapdock Atrix with the Pi

Using a lapdock with a Pi ZeroW is fun for retro gaming but hasn't got enough performance for pretty much everything else. A Pi 3B starts up but randomly reeboots. Most likely because the lapdock doesn't provide enough power. Voltage doesn't seem to be the problem because the low voltage sign never ...

Seriously: Showing us a blue RasPi only to tell us we can't buy one is just plain cruel. It's april fools and halloween combined cruel.

@Raspberry Pi Foundation: You just opened Pandora's box!

Wouldn't it be nice to have RasPis in different colors?

Transforming a broken Dell inspiron one

Hi there, i can get my hands on a cheap (broken) Dell Inspiron One 2205 (All-in-one-PC). It has a FullHD touchscreen display that I'd like to use for my Raspberry Pi. The display is easy: Get a controller board from ebay and you have a working minitor (been there, done that). I already identified th...

external hdd experiences (pidrive)

First of all i'd like to suggest creating a new subforum called "pidrive" in "Hardware and peripherals". tl;dr: Maybe don't connect large external hard drives directly to your RasPi. This thread is just for sharing my latest experiences with using a external harddrive on a RasPi. Since WD presented ...

Re: powering question

It Works! The display controller board has two different inputs: a round one, like on a laptop and one 4-pin. Power comes from a 12V 4A DC adapter and goes into the round power input. I use the 4-Pin connector as a power out (because both inputs are directly linked to each other on the pcb) to feed...

Re: Firmware update question

Now I',m confused: Is there a kind of firmware on the RasPi, that can be updated or not? I remember a "sudo rpi-update" update that was reccomended in a tutorial somewhere. If i understand you right, that is only a part of the system on my SD card (usually)!? So if i have to reinstall my system (bec...

Raspberry Pi 3 Hardware Revisions

Hi there, i got two optically different Raspberry Pi 3 models. One of them has black camera and display connectors, the other one has white ones. Is this due to a hardware revision or was one produced in China and the other one in UK? Are there different versions of the Raspberry 3? Is there a compl...

stream synched video and audio

I do know that this isn't really the right forum for this question. But i'd like to excite a new sticky: There are multiple ways to get the RasPi to stream video. To local networks, to the internet, with the official camera board, with webcams... But as soon as you are looking for a way to stream a ...

So i don't need to compile anything? Just "apt-get install libav-tools"? But how should the command line for the YouTube stream look? birdbox tutorial says: raspivid -o - -t 0 -w 1280 -h 720 -fps 25 -b 4000000 -g 50 | ffmpeg -re -ar 44100 -ac 2 -acodec pcm_s16le -f s16le -ac 2 -i /dev/zero -f h264 -...

Thanks for that info! Does anyone know how hot that step down converter can get? I guess the RasPi will be no problem in a wooden case and the display controller board also shouldn't get much warmer. I got an old laptop display that i want to use for my RasPi by using an LCD Display Controller with HDMI out. The controller needs 12V/2A so i will have to use some AC adapter to power it. I'm planning to build a simple alarm clock (show time, at least 2 alarms, play mp3 sound). My first hardware problem is the display. I'd like to use a 3,5" lcd graphics display. Doesn't have to be a touchscreen. But: most of them connect to the gpio. I need to add some buttons for the settings. Is t...

Re: Pi-based VR Camera + Telepresence Robot (working project

The Blackmail rig would be more expensive in the end than the Gopro solution, wouldn't it? Main reason we still don't have a 360°-system are the costs. Life stitching isn't really necessary for us but it would have been a nice touch, given that your system is even cheaper than the solution we are fo...

Re: Pi-based VR Camera + Telepresence Robot (working project

Most consumer 360° cameras lack in resolution. We planned buying a cube rig for six GoPros, lease some GoPros and use a test licence of the needed stitching software for some first tests before we would have bought all the equipment needed. Planned combined final costs would have been 4000€. I alrea...

Re: camera longitude range

The camera module is about as good as the camera of a low- to middle-class smartphone with fixed focus. An object that far away would be a rather tiny spot on your picture. But you can attach a zoom-lens to the board and increase the focal lenght of the module. Zoom-lenses for smartphones are widely...
