Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution

Xbian sure does play "Video" ;) You can see tons of Youtube videos showing how the RPI can "Play Video".. I'm demonstrating "User Interface Navigation and View Types of Skins" (was starting to think XBMC Pi could only run "Confluence" judging by the amount of Youtube videos showing it.. ) Wanna wat...

Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution

Can I import my userdata from xbmc on openelec so I don't have to setup all of my stuff again? you can import your sources.xml and maybe your guisettings.xml but everything else its best to start off from scratch because they could be using different builds of xbmc which would cause it all not show...

Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution

is there anyway we can have some sort of update files to just update our current sd images instead of having to re-write the card everytime? I know its simple to backup my settings and stuff, but writting 2gb cards every update could be damaging to the card and not to mention unnecessary and time co...

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds

Where do you get the latest builds? Openelecs daily builds are still only at r11286 Anyone got a link? Most people will be building from the git source themselves I guess, although looking at the commits after 11286 I'm not sure how much is pi specific. yes i and others are building from git source...

Re: OpenELEC meets Raspberry Pi - part 1 (XBMC)

Hi! Firstly, sorry in advance if i have posted this in the wrong thread and secondly, sorry for being a noob. I have gone through the whole build process (14 hours on a run o' the mill netbook) and set up an SD card. It boots quickly to the OpenELEC / Raspi splash screen and then goes no further. I...

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds

yes when i transfer to/from the pi i see a steady connection of 1.9MB/s. I wonder if the latest builds are throttling the ethernet somehow? Is this over SMB or NFS? I've never had any luck with SMB, I switched asap. this is with SMB...i use SMB when i hook up my laptop and use xbmc, and i use SMB o...

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds

I have made some tests and got a theory that buffering issue caused by bad networking performance of RPi. Moving files to USB attached harddisk (or even fast SD card) on RPi through LAN (it's 100MB full) connection from my windows PC is at speed of 1.9MB/s. well bellow the 20MB tested with hdparm. ...

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds

there have been simillar buffering issues with rasbmc latest builds, and I havent tested theirs yet but they seem to have found a fix in the forums by increasing the kernel reserved memory. Some have tested 12288,16384, 20480 increases, and had great results. Im not sure how openelec does kernel res...

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds

I'm not a dev but as I understand it those options are related only to HDMI. Could it be that you have a bad HDMI cable? According to http://elinux.org/RPi_config.txt you can even set config_hdmi_boost=7 -- does it make a difference doing that? i have used the cable on numerous other items (receive...

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds

well i have made some progress on my buffer issues. i added hdmi_drive=2 config_hdmi_boost=4 to config.txt and my buffer issues have been cut in half. (they still EXIST where they dont on r11170 and i don't even need a config.txt on r11170) But with those 2 additions I have greatly diminished my buf...

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds

i hate to say it but im still having buffer issues that dont exist on r11170. I have tried everything changing routers, changing network cards, changing os's. In r11258 and r11260 (both have working audio passthrough) im being forced to buffer every 1-5 minutes. I can swap out my card to r11170 and ...

Must be something wrong with my samba client on my li...
