Re: Wifi adapter

Qtree wrote:I can help but for this moment a "pull request" is something I am not familiar with.
Pull request means you've forked hexxeh's rpi-firmware repo on github, and committed changes to your fork. You then submit a "pull request" for hexxeh to merge those changes into his upstream repo.

Re: Wifi adapter

Well unfortunately after the latest 'rpi-update' (hoping to resolve the USB dropped packet issue) the binary driver doesn't work again... So I have to rebuild. I opened an issue here: https://github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-firmware/issues/1 So maybe if we're lucky, hexxeh can maintain binary builds of the dr...

Re: Wifi adapter

Here's my wpa_supplicant.conf. The first AP is a WPA2 at work. The second is my home WEP-protected router. I changed ap_scan=1 in hopes that it would help... But I haven't seen a difference. ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant ctrl_interface_group=0 ap_scan=1 network={ ssid="AB" proto=RSN key_mgm...

Re: Wifi adapter

I had AP scanning/selection set to 2 (ap_scan=2) but had more than one option listed in my proto and group fields (you're only allowed one option if ap_scan=2. Ah! Actually I did have more than one proto and group listed for that AP. Didn't know you couldn't do that, thanks. Although it still doesn...

Re: Wifi adapter

I've just downloaded a new RTL8188CUS driver here. So I swear I got it working once, but now it just keeps trying to associate but never completes. It sees the AP (and a couple others in the area.) Doesn't give a clear (to me) error why it's failing either. Attached dmesg output and `wpa_supplicant...

Re: Wifi adapter

Here is mine, works for me with the current kernel delivered by rpi-update, YMMV. wget http://www.bug-byte.co.uk/pi/8192cu.ko Unfortunately I did an rpi-update this morning and tried your build but it didn't work for me :( I get this: [email protected]:~# modprobe 8192cu ERROR: could not insert '8192cu...

Rainbow Square of Death!

It's the rpi's version of a BSOD! So some of you folks may have seen this: http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting#Coloured_splash_screen It flashes at the very beginning of boot - but sometimes if your kernel image is f'ed up it hangs there... Happened to me a couple times. So -- important question...

Yup! The same Apple keyboard works fine when I boot up the Arch distro. So this is a USB issue with Debian.

Re: Report: Apple Wired Keyboard Incompatible

Hmm, mahjongg's arguement is pretty convincing, but then again so is Grumpy Mike's. There's only one way to resolve this........ Fight to the death? :) So someone mentioned (can't remember where) that there might be USB driver issues with Debian specifically, but Arch and Fedora were unaffected. Ma...

Re: Wifi adapter

So can one of you guys post a compiled driver that works with the current kernel? I'm currently compiling the kernel per previous instructions but as we all know that takes forever...

Or is that a necessary step to getting the driver to work?

Re: Report: Apple Wired Keyboard Incompatible

What part of it is not a power issue do you not understand. The fact that some people report it working through a powered hub suggested to me something wrong with the timing in the software that, going through a hub, fixes. Hi Mike, Thanks for contributing to the conversation. I think you're the fi...

Re: Wifi adapter

So using stock raspbian-r3 and the original install script (no rpi-update,) wlan0 comes up and it finds the AP but wpa_supplicant can't associate. Not sure if this is a pebcak but I've followed the wpa_supplicant.conf instructions. Here's a snippet of output when I run wpa_supplicant manually with t...

ipv6: disagrees about version of symbol module_layout The last error message is the one we have been trying to re-compile the drivers to fix. Yes there was a similar error posted on the first page of this thread where that message is reported from 8192cu. But this error is coming from the ipv6 driv...

Re: Wifi adapter

So I learned a couple things.... After trying to get an Apple USB keyboard to working and seeing this same error: DEBUG:handle_hc_chhltd_intr_dma:: XactErr without NYET/NAK/ACK turns out that is a symptom of needing a powered USB hub! So I went back to hexxeh's stock raspbian-r3 image and ran raspbi...

confirmed - I found a powered USB hub. Once I used the keyboard through the hub it works perfectly. Now I know!

Re: Report: Apple Wired Keyboard Incompatible

So I plugged in an Apple USB keyboard and got a bunch of dmesg errors. I would have thought it's a driver problem (although one would think there aren't driver issues with a simple USB keyboard...) Here's some of the dmesg output.... It keeps repeating so I lost the very beginning when the device is...

So after giving a couple more tries, I see the drivers being loaded and it looks like it's properly talking to the hardware but eventually a lot of these errors show up: ===> FirmwareDownload91C() fw:Rtl819XFwImageArray_TSMC fw_ver=v75, fw_subver=0, sig=0x88c0 rtl8192c_FirmwareSelfReset =====> 8051 ...

Re: Wifi adapter

I'm running into similar issues. I'm running Hexxeh's raspbian-r3 image (with or without rpi-update). And I've tried both the original instructions and Hexxeh's driver install script. The driver install script runs and completes successfully, but the interface never comes up. In fact - /dev/wlan0 ne...

How can I create my own Raspbian-based image?

Title says it all..

I understand it has something to do with debootstrap, but it would be great to see the command line/ config/ whatever that is required i.e. for Hexxeh's raspbian image.

Thanks!

Re: An update on

That would be great -- I would love to see OpenEmbedded support for the RPi. Please keep us updated, or post a link to your github repo.
