Re: Choosing the pie for portability and performance

I didn't know about this aspect of the power boost, might explain some problems I've seen. Anyhow, I think you might be right. I love the Pi and I will very likely continue using it on several projects, but portability is a lot more complicated and requires more from a sbc than small size. I still c...

Re: Choosing the pie for portability and performance

My pi3 never worked with the Adafruit 1000c, even with no other peripherals drawing current. For that pi 3 project (handheld gaming thing) I ended up using one of those external batteries made to charge your phone. It works! But it's big and bulky and probably wouldn't be able to handle the whole th...

Re: Choosing the pie for portability and performance

Boy, am I glad I asked. Kind of a bummer but at least I know my previous projects were actually as successful as they could have been.

Choosing the pie for portability and performance

Hi all I could use some guidance here. I made two pi projects so far. The first thing I made is a retropie handheld with a pi 3. That was not very smart because the pi 3 is the hardest to make portable with its power consumption being higher and all, which I didn't know then. For my second project I...

Re: Smallest wired keyboard

For reference. The best by far I found has been discontinued by the manufacturer: http://usb.brando.com/prod_detail.php?prod_id=00666 Look at this thing! it's perfect! All the right keys a normal keyboard needs, has the size of a small smartphone and, of course, with a normal USB connection. No blue...

Re: Smallest wired keyboard

I have one that looks the same: It has a part number SW-51007 http://zoweetek.com/product-item/wireless-keygboardtouchpadbacklit-zw-51007/ I think it was called an RII something. It doesn't seem to work as a USB keyboard though. It does look like the one on Ben Heck's video. I just bought a very si...

Re: Smallest wired keyboard

Thanks for that! I suspected a lot of these wireless might also work as a wired version and the manufacturer didn't bother to advertise it as a feature. This would be the easiest solution.

Now to find out which does that. Unfortunately they don't say what's the model of the one they showed.

Smallest wired keyboard

Hey everyone, I have been looking for a small keyboard for a tiny pocket computer but all I can find are bluetooth keyboards. They are super tiny and perfect but bluetooth means hassle of setting up your OS, sync with it at boot, carry its own battery etc. It's not ideal. If anything goes wrong and y...

Making a bluetooth device work as USB

Hi all! I bought this cute micro keyboard to use with my pi zero, and it uses bluetooth. Absolutely every single micro keyboard out there is wireless, which makes sense since they target mobile platforms. The thing is I really don't need it to be wireless! I'm making a tiny computer, so the keyboard...

Re: How to make a portable Pi 3

It's a brand new battery. I tested for an hour or so on the pi (a few minutes at a time for a couple of days), then left it charging for a few hours. I'm pretty certain I am not doing anything to this battery it wasn't supposed to handle it. In any case. We can continue this thread if we feel like i...

Re: How to make a portable Pi 3

I actually don't know. The low battery LED goes off when not connected to anything. I tried recharging the battery for hours and it changes nothing.

I may have been unlucky enough to get a defective model.

Re: How to make a portable Pi 3

I figured out what was wrong. The battery was low on charge. I mean, it still sucks that whenever the battery is low on charge the voltage drops! it should definitely not work like that, but when it's not low, the pi is powered properly. I just bought a RevPower 13400 mah and this thing is so great ...

Re: How to make a portable Pi 3

No Lidle nearby, apparently. Is there any way I can measure how much current it's drawing? I have a multimeter but I don't trust my own knowledge very much when things are connected to 110V power source :P

Re: How to make a portable Pi 3

I have not tried that! I was actually looking for it but I didn't know the name of these things. I tried 'external battery' and stuff like that :P I don't know exactly how much it needs, only that it is underpowered. I'm basing my guess considering 2.5A is just above the maximum powerboost can provi...

How to make a portable Pi 3

Hi all I have made a mistake. I wanted to make a portable handheld, so I bought the pi3, started working on it and left the battery and powerboost stuff for almost last. Then I realized that finding a power boost that allows recharging of the battery and delivers 5 V at 2.5A is very difficult! I rea...

Re: Modifying a 3.5" car display for USB power.

EDIT: Actually, I suspect my pi is getting less than 5V from this damn powerboost. The red LED goes off occasionally, indicating it's below 4.65V, and exactly then the display turns off. I don't know if I should keep the post here though. Hi there I guess I'll just stay in the line of people who can...
