Re: WiFi will not work after install on laptop

Thanks for that. I reinstalled XP on the laptop and using it for other purposes now.

I would mark this post as resolved. Thanks.

Re: WiFi will not work after install on laptop

I thought it would be a good idea to put this version of Linux onto an old , un-used, laptop so that I could learn how to use this particular OS. I was thinking it would be more convenient on the laptop rather than the RaspberryPi, which is, by it's nature, static. I have come to the conclusion that...

Re: WiFi will not work after install on laptop

I ran through the download and install, I saw all the file installed but the WiFi still won't go. Where would I find the these downloaded files? Could they have installed to the wrong directory? Or maybe there is some missing config?

Re: WiFi will not work after install on laptop

Yes I am using Debian Stretch with Raspberry Pi Desktop Linux: Also I have worked through the methods of installation outlined in https://wiki.debian.org/bcm43xx. After loading b43 and b43legacy I checked the outcome with lspci and the result is the same, the kernel is loading ssb, wl. How can I for...

WiFi will not work after install on laptop

on completion of an install onto my old HP laptop I found that WiFi was not working. I found instructions on Wireless Wiki. First I ran lspci -vvnn | grep -A 9 Network which gave me BCM4318 [14e4:4318] rev 2 Kernal Modules ssb, wl. From this I found that I needed the b43 drivers. I ran sudo apt-get ...

Multiple OS on RPi 2 USB

I have Installed the OS, for my RPi3, in a USB hard drive. I would like to install Windows 10 IoT on the hard drive as well. Currently I am running Windows IoT from an SD card. Can anybody tell me how to set up dual booting and how to copy the content of the SD card onto the hard drive please?

Backup & restore

I have my RPi3 booting from a USB hard drive and I need to find a way to perform a backup of the hard drive image so that I can store the image on my Windows desktop. Is there a utility for backup and restore for Raspberrian?

Re: RPi3 WiFi stopped working

I have abandoned the static address and set everything back to the default settings. As I said the configuration files are correct. The problem is that at startup there is no WiFi connection with the default settings. I am booting from a USB hard drive, but, if I install the SD card I get WiFi ok so...

Re: RPi3 WiFi stopped working

Yes. Thanks for that. I think I did refer to doing that in my post. The thing is that it doesn't answer my problem. :)

RPi3 WiFi stopped working

I was trying to set up a static address for my WiFi, on the Raspberry Pi 3, and the WiFi stopped working. I have checked /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf and all seems to be good there. Are then any other config files that may have been effected? If I use iwlist wl...

Re: Errata

Thanks for your reply.

Nothing happens after the two reports, with all three drive I get the colour screen, the report and then nothing. As I said, I can't believe that three drives have the same fault so is it my RPi3 or the code?

Regards John

Re: Errata

I have just followed the USB setup procedure that was published in the Magpi issue 50. I am quite sure that I followed all of the instructions, however, wen I remove the SD card and start up nothing happens. If I start up with the SD card inserted the Pi works properly but keeps polling the USB har...

Mounting USB Hard Drive

I have run through the set up for mounting a hard drive to my RPi 3. Every thing seemed to go ok until I rebooted without the SD card. I am getting the following messages: I am new to RPi [3.437232] USB 1-1.4.4: Unable to get BOS descriptor [4.439885] SD 0:0:0:0: [SDA] Asking for cache data failed [...
