I got it working. I think tightvncserver is the only thing caused this problem, and it was asking for root password. But we dont have root enabled in pi. I have now even removed tightvncserver from pi through putty and rebooted still it shows login screen? tightvncserver was not causing this? Why it still asks for username and password and cant login using same username password as putty does?

What will happen if I connect a 2 volt LED to 3.3 v and GND pin without a resistor? Will that damage my pi or LED? I dont care if that damage LED. :p

Great, Thanks guys you are being very helpful.. setting XKBLAYOUT="us" in /etc/default/keyboard resolved the problem. by default it was XKBLAYOUT="gb"

It required my pi to restart to take effect of this change.. I can type as my KB now.. @@@@@ YAyyyyyyyyyy
