Re: rpi3 wireshark Protocol 0x886c

Ethertype 0x886c is listed as Epigram. Epigram was apparently bought out by Broadcom. The Wireshark frame breakdown in the first post shows a manufacturer code of Raspberr_, which is based on the first 3 bytes of the MAC address. All 0x886c frames I have seen show the same source and destination MAC...

Re: VNC server in Jessie (using a systemd service)

This seems to have done what I wanted. In /etc/systemd/system/[email protected].service replace ExecStart=/usr/bin/vncserver -depth 24 -geometry 1280x800 :%i ExecStop=/usr/bin/vncserver -kill :%i with ExecStart=/usr/bin/sudo /usr/bin/vncserver -depth 24 -geometry 1280x800 :%i ExecStop=/usr/bin/sudo /usr/bi...

strongSwan, ikev2, eap-mschapv2 and modules

I am trying to get Linux strongSwan U5.2.1/K4.1.19+ running on a model B Pi, using ikev2 and eap-mschapv2. So far I understand I have been able to connect and authenticate to my VPN service provider. The ipsec status command shows Security Associations (1 up, 0 connecting):, ESTABLISHED 28 minutes a...

Re: Device Tree and USB HDD

For anyone interested, I found the following URLs useful (not necessarily in this order). https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-Pi-ExternalRoot-Helper Load the configs module and then look for /proc/config.gz https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=113979 From: https://www.raspberrypi...

Re: Device Tree and USB HDD

A rebuilt kernel with CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_CYPRESS_ATACB=y fixed my issue. This resulted in the module being included in the kernel. I spent a lot of time learning how to build an RPi kernel. Always a bit of a push the first time. My last Linux kernel was built on a 486/33DX. Will now look at the init...

Re: Device Tree and USB HDD

Can you build an initrd with SystemD? If so, is there some example somewhere I could follow?

TIA

Device Tree and USB HDD

My USB HDD uses a Cypress Semiconductor chip that needs the support of the ums-cypress.ko module. To boot my Pi from this USB HDD rather than the existing SD card I need to load this module at boot time. How do I go about loading this module at boot time using a kernel based on device tree, please? ...

Re: VNC server in Jessie (using a systemd service)

Thank you for this post. I am running the tightvnc server in ubuntu mate from https://ubuntu-mate.org/raspberry-pi/ If I use your systemd unit to start tightvnc, log in from a tightvnc client and then run mate terminal, it starts with the /bin/sh shell. I think this has something to do with systemd ...
