Re: Open University "Sense" board and the Pi

Hi Richard, thanks for your response, I will certainly start to try and contribute to the Linux community if it might give me some standing a bit later on. Like you I've been in the IT industry for years and despite MCP and small business specialist status, I've never had any formal qualifications, ...

Re: MCE Remote

Wow, that's very cool, I might use that for controlling the main TV from my Pi.....I just bought a £109 22" LED TV as a Monitor for my laptop and HDMI screen for my Pi, it works brilliantly.

Re: Open University "Sense" board and the Pi

Hi, course is great fun and really interesting, I just finished it at the end of May, just missed out on a distinction! I'm studying for B67 degree "Computing and IT (Software developer) with Design as a second subject, I'm really enjoying it so far and have completed all my 1st year study, moving o...

Re: Infrared input connector and disk acess

I've had a reply from Gert on this and it's not possible. He did say that I might be able to get it working via the GPIO pins though. :D

Open University "Sense" board and the Pi

Does anyone else have a "Sense" board from the Open University? I have one, the OU created it to teach basic programming on their TU100 computing course and they re-wrote a version of Scratch to use with it. It has an IR sensor, Temperature sensor, Motion sensor, 6 LED's, an IR emitter, light sensor...

Re: Portable Power Source.

There are stacks of really cheap MP4 players on ebay, perfect for tinkering with your Pi as they have a small screen and a battery.........I will post as soon as I've started tinkering with mine which I got a few days ago. :D

Re: Buffer Board

Wow Mike this is brilliant and has everything I need to get started with various GPIO projects I have in mind. I'm surprised no-one else has picked up on your post, I think Mike's webpage is well worth a look for anyone interested in adding various electronics etc to their Pi.

Justin.

Re: MCE Remote

I have an IR sensor that has a 3-connection 3.5mm Jack plug. Is there any way of re-programming the RPi's audio-out jack to accept this type of IR sensor? I have posted this elsewhere but I think Gert is the man for the job as he has the "low-Level knowledge"! :D

Re: Infrared input connector and disk acess

Hi Guys, I have an infrared receiver that came with an HDMI output selector. The HDMI selector is automatic, so I have no use for the infra-red receiver. The receiver itself has a cable attached leading to a 3.5mm stereo jack plug (3 contacts). Is there any way of re-programming the analogue sound o...

XBMC OpenGL Driver required How to fix?!?

Hi Everyone, I know there are other threads that relate to the OpenGL error that is flashed up when trying to start XBMC on a debian squeeze or Arch dist, but as far as I can see there is no solution. Please can someone post a solution that walks a noob through either: a) installing the required dri...

Re: Debian 19-04-2012 issues

Hi all, my Pi arrived yesterday and I've only just managed to get it up and running! It would seem that my USB power supply was weedy and on using a decent HTC charger I've been able to at least get to a Debian command prompt....hurray progress!! It was causing all sorts of issues and it seemed that...
