Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution

Anyone got the same problem as I have? If i play movies etc it works perfectly, but if it is idle for about 30min-1hour it freezes so the menu just stands there and you can se when it stoped because the time is frozen too. Can you look into this and see if it's a common thing? or if it's just me? /...

Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution

Is anyone using a Logitech K400 keyboard/touchpad? I seem to be having some issues with mine not being recognized. I will boot my Pi, it won't work so I pull the power plug, plug it back it, then it might work. If it doesn't, I keep pulling the power plug and re-plugging it in until it works. I've ...

Re: Kernel Panic : VFS :Unable to mount root fs on unknown-b

I have the same problem when booting Xbian for the 2nd time.

My SD card is on the approved list though: 8GB SDHC Class 10 (SD10V/8GB).

RPi has a separate power supply, however, if I can I'll try and power the lot from the hub.

Re: Dodgy USB Hub?

I wondered this - if on the laptop the laptop is actually powering the HDD and on the PI its getting some power but not enough to power it up properly. It is a powered hub. I'm tempted to just ditch it and get one which is a little more expensive (assuming more money = better quality) and trying aga...

Dodgy USB Hub?

I've got a little USB hub that seems to work okay for keyboard and mouse but when I plug a hard drive into it the PI (running Raspbian + XBMC) cannot register its existence. What's odd is that the drive keeps "reving", as if its spinning then not then spinning then not. It works fine when this is al...

Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution

I keep getting a problem when I start the system for a second time. It appears to be related to the USB keyboard but I'm not sure what the problem is.

The system hangs on a process (see attached image).

Any ideas whats causing this?

Re: XBMC and torrent all together?

On reading this appears to be a control plugin and not an actual working full version of the app.

If that is the case you may want to look at what works on Raspbian, then run XBMC over the top of that. I'm not sure if XBMC closes down background OS programs and services as it opens.

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds

I've streamed through this thread and can only find the question being asked, not the answer... I'm loading the img files from http://openelec.thestateofme.com/, I'm not anywhere near the level of expertise to start building this myself, I'm starting with some basic tweaks for now. I can't locate a ...

Re: XBMC and torrent all together?

I'm pretty sure it runs within XBMC.

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Add-on:UTorrent

You can load XBMC in your current operating system and check it out before loading it onto your PI if you want.

Fantastic! I've tried a few other versions on Debian, and OpenElec and this is definitely the most responsive. Really easy to install, thanks a lot!

Re: XBMC, which distro ???

In addition to what I said above try the Raspbian with XBMC deb. The instructions given by the original poster worked perfectly for me. Its all up and running fine. It feels a little more responsive than the OpenELEC version I was using, plus you can boot into Raspbian which is useful. I'm completel...

Re: XBMC and torrent all together?

XBMC has torrent addons (I think Utorrent is in there). Whether or not they will work well during video playback I'm not entirely sure.

Re: XBMC, which distro ???

Seems to be personal preference, although I will try to move over to Raspbian once some images become available. There is a OpenElec image here: http://www.root9.net/2012/07/openelec-build-r11639-available.html I'm running r11591 with few problems. Some of the initial streaming is slow but overall i...

Re: Two XBMC (.deb) compiled/prepared for users + instructio

Please forgive me if this question is a little stupid, but what is the difference between loading Raspbian then installing XBMC as a .deb file and loading Raspbian with it already installed so that it boots on startup?

Are there any performance gains from either or is it exactly the same end result?

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

For those of you who've got a working version of Raspbian XBMC, are you doing any overclocking to achieve a smoother performance? I just got my PI last night and loaded Raspian (no XBMC) then Elec XBMC onto it with no problems, seems to work fine, but is a little slow. I'm going to switch over to Ra...

Re: Why don't all SD cards work?

And here's me thinking manufactures comply to an industry standard! I thought that if I buy a class 10 card of any manufacturer its the same, and the price reflects the quality of the components themselves (and the brand name). I picked up an 8GB class 10 Kingston a few months back for my camera but...

Why don't all SD cards work?

I understand that there needs to be a minimum writing and reading speed of the card, but with these higher end cards (class 10?) why don't they all work? I would have thought they have the same architecture as far as accessing, reading, and writing are concerned. I'll aim to buy one of the tested an...

OpenELEC or Raspbmc?

I'm planning to create a media centre with my PI and it seems to fall to one of two options, either installing OpenELEC or Raspbmc. I'd love to see a web browser included with these but having read some of the forum posts over on OpenELEC that doesn't seem to be a plan for the future. So, as a purel...
