Cannot get Serial port to work on P2 B

Hi, looking for bit of help with the serial port on a Pi 2B, I had program that worked fine until I updated to the latest Rasbian today. I was expecting to have to change the references to the serial port to 'serial0', but this did not work ? Taking a step back I installed minicom and connected pins...

Set screen resolution not working on headless zero

Has anyone else found the 'set resolution' is not working on Pi Zero's with the latest Raspbian - June 18 ?

My setup is a Pi Zero W running headless. All I get offered is the 'default' resolution - I get the same with Rasp-config in terminal. It seems to work fine on 3+ running the latest Raspian.

Re: How would I set up Rasperry Pi for sensing doorbell push..?

I would have a look at https://github.com/ninjablocks/433Utils, there is a basic 'sniffer' app you can run on a Pi ( obviously with a cheap ebay ( or similar) 433 receiver connected ) this will allow you to see the code the door bell is using. You can then adapt the code to look specially for this c...

Re: python-scrollphathd upgrade problem

same for me, interestingly if you do an apt-get install it will finish off the aborted update when it has installed the new application which I guess makes sense

Re: Raspberry Pi Zero RF Rx/Tx

suggest you have a look at

Code: Select all

https://github.com/milaq/rpi-rf
. I have found it much easier to use than some earlier code as this does not need 'wiring' to be installed as a pre-req.

Using Pi reset pins to get to a 'safe' state

I am looking for a simple way to 'safely' shut down a Rpi - without going through the sudo poweroff process. I can see pulling a Rpi board in to reset by shorting the reset pins together is not the best way to get the board into a safe state before cutting the power but will it ensure I avoid corrup...

MU on Stretch

Using apt-get-install mu installs quite an old version, you can get around this by manually installing the latest stable release of mu from GitHub. This has always needed some extra bits installed to get it working but the list has grown with Stretch to include pyqt5 . By accident I discovered the f...

Re: VNC via the Cloud

I suggest you try logging in directly to Realvnc - https://www.realvnc.com/en/, sign-in and select the 'Computers' option, this should allow you to manage previously registered computers, if that does not work I would try the 'contact us' link and ask for some help directly.

Re: VNC via the Cloud

I would agree it is not immediately obvious This may not be the only way but worked for me - assuming you are using Real VNC that comes packaged with the more recent Rasbian distributions - left click on the VNC icon on the task bar - Under 'Connectivity' you will see an option to 'sign in' to enabl...

SD Card Copier App

Can anyone confirm they have the the built in copier app working with the current 2.1 Noobs with a recent up date/grade. I have used it a number of times with the same h/w setup before but it is just causing my Pi Zero to lock up now ?

Thanks

transporting your Pi-topCEED

Following a few gentle hints during the Autumn I got a Pi-topCEED for Christmas. The main reason I want the CEED is to make getting to Pi Jams easier in terms of the amount of clutter I have to carry around [ specifically to avoid lugging around a separate monitor ] . I avoided the Pi-Top [modular l...

Re: DS18B20 wrong temp

One point to note is that the actual temperature sensing element is bonded to the middle pin of the DS18B20, not the device case. As such it can pick up / be cooled by conduction from the PCB it is soldered to. I have seen this in a board I developed which ran 'warm' causing the DS18B20 to read slig...

New SD card copier - has anyone got it to work ? - SOLVED

I would be interested to know if anyone has got this to work ? I have been struggling with it today on a PiZero with a clean Rasbian image updated this morning.
