Re: "Gertboard Assembled"

The problem with sockets is twofold It does make the board more expensive, especially if you use turned pin sockets. Also, the IC's can be inserted into the board by machine, but using sockets makes this more labour intensive = expense. Saving for example £1 per board by not using sockets will be a ...

GB Test Board

I have built a simple expansion / test board for my Gertboard / RPi It consists of : A 3.3 V LCD Display - Used to ensure compatiblity with the RPi 3 x Potentiometers ( 1 is for the LCD Contrast) 1 x Light Dependant Resistor 4 x DP Relays 1 x Small DC Motor I have used the same type of header pins a...

They seem to keep poping up on e-bay.
Some for sensible prices (considering you cannot get them through Farnell anymore).

Re: Gertboard AVR without Arduino IDE (howto)

I have successfully programmed the AVR on my Gertboard using an AVR ISP and Flowcode software. (I would expect you will be able to use Atmel Studio as well, though I have not tried this) A free basic version of Flowcode can be downloaded from here. http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/flowcode.php Both a...

Re: test programs ?

Hi One of Gerts demo programs in the zipfile seems to be incomplete The Gertboard_demo.c does not have the executable file after running make all. Ive tried compilling it manually but Gertboard_demo.h is missing Think this is the program Gert is using in one of his videos that has a lot of the tests...

Re: Gertboard Testing

First time I tried the motor it did'nt work. This was using 3V (2 x AAs) to power a small toy motor.(Wanted to test at the lowest level I could untill I was confident the circuit was wired correctly)
I then tried a 9V PP3 battery, this powered up no problem.

Re: PiFace and Gertboard

Hmm I have a few thoughts about this. 1) Ok The photo is not very clear but It looks like the IC's are soldered into the PCB. The idea of the buffer chips is to protect the RPi. If you blow them on the kit version it just a case of unplug it and stick a new one in. A soldered IC is quite difficult t...

Re: Gertboard Testing

Apart from the AVR micro, all other parts of my Gertboard tested and working.
(Will test that later)
Personally only problem I found is the writing is too small for my eyes. Have to get the mag-lens out for some of them.
Now to think of some real applications to experiment with.

Re: Gertboard Assembly Thread

Just finally finished building my Gertboard this morning. (Prefer to work in natural daylight for projects like this). Run the first tests sending pattens to the LED's. All works fine, so hopefully everything else should. Thanks Gert its a great little board, going to enjoy experimenting with it. Es...

Re: onboard 5V regulator

Hi Gert
Do you have a part no.(Farnell ?) for the coax power socket.
That way I can be sure to find one that I know will fit. All the other parts look to be fairly standard.

Thanks

Re: Gertboard Jumper leads

I use them quite regularly. They have some stock I've not found anywhere else apart from on US websites. Also one thing I really like, they use small plastic boxes for shipping. They are great for component storage. (Well if you order something large you get a larger plasic box :) ) Shipping is norm...

Re: Question about Atmel chip

Hi I have noticed the 6pin header on the Gertboard for programming the AVR has the same pinouts as the AVR ISP mk II In circuit programmer. Will this work with the Gert Board, because this means I can program the AVR with flowcode (a language I know) rather than having to learn the Arduino system. A...

Re: Gertboard Jumper leads

Hi
I bought some f-f jumpers from proto-pic in the UK

Part No. PPPRT-08430 these are 6 inch
Part No. PPPRT-09389 these are 12 inch

http:// proto-pic.co.uk
Look very similar quality to the ones supplied by farnell with the kit.

Think they are from Sparkfun in the States

Spare holes on PCB

There is a grid of 12 x 7 holes on the right side of the board that do not look to be connected to anything. Is there a reason for these? Not found it mentioned in the documentation. My thoughts are its a small development area for users to build extra circuits on, but I'd like that to be certified. ...
