Re: Unable to find a Python program to read mlx90615

It turns out not that difficult to manipulate the C library, so it writes the values to an external text file.. then loads the file in Python script.. not a nice method but works nonetheless.
Thanks for the inspiration...

Unable to find a Python program to read mlx90615

Hi, I've been through a dozen of threads about interfacing the mlx90615 IR temperature sensor to Rpi via i2c.. nothing seems to work.. The closest I could get to actually see data coming was by using the C library from https://github.com/paulvha/mlx90615-on-raspberryPi Which confirmed that the devic...

Strech | RPi3 | Task bar won't load after enabling VNC

Hi, Just after a fresh Stretch boot, enabled VNC, reboot, I can connect through VNC but the taskbar won't load.
I can access the file system through Wastebasket and open the terminal.

How should I troubleshoot the problem?

Re: How to know what is the service launched on raspbian startup?

1 second boot sounds a bit unrealistic, the Pi needs few seconds to initiate devices and read the boot loader, but you can check startup up list by using the command initctl list and figure out what to eliminate. Anyway, I imagine the vanilla image of Raspbian is pretty fast to boot out of the box (...

Re: Why the hard-float ABI?

I can see the rational Google is making to actually enforce the logic of "Make you're code better, don't relay on hardware features to solve your problems", and there's nothing wrong with that regarding the nature of Android, it's purpose and it's target audience. And the fact the Android must run o...

Re: realvnc can damage your mind

It's really unfortunate to learn about your experience with RealVNC as it's working perfectly with lot's of people (for me at least), and it overcomes all the shortcomings of xrdp and it's problems. It handles clipboard synchronization, reconnects after reboots or any connection issues, optionally e...

MagPi 59 file duplicated??

Hi, I've noticed that the MagPi 59 pdf file is provided in a duplicate fashion, One file called "MagPi59.pdf", the other is "MagPI59.pdf". (Note the "i" and the "I") Please check ==> https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi-issues/?C=M;O=D Is this a mistake or perhaps there's an explanation for that??, tha...

Re: CPU clockspeed at low usage

This has to do with CPU frequency scaling, it's controlled by a "governor" in the kernel.. You can change governors to change CPU frequency response to different workloads, but I'm not really an expert on the subject, Consult those links and learn more about this: https://wiki.debian.org/HowTo/CpuFr...

Re: How to connect wifi through raspberry pi

sudo is a way to execute programs as superuser (or any user for that matter) to make "unrestricted" changes to the file system, the default user that you normally log in with is "pi" and the default password for this "super" user is "raspberry".. You should read some Linux intro articles to be able ...

Resize the file system on USB drive?

Hello, I'm booting a RPi 3 using a USB drive (without SD card), the only problem is that file system resizing script doesn't work at all, Also, using raspi-config says that it can't resize the file system unless it's on a SD card.. The only solution seems to be the one provided by fsnicholas on http...

I had the same problem, found that the ssh file MUST be on the boot partition of the USB drive, not the SD card (if you're booting the system form a USB drive)..

Can't USB boot (with SD card) anymore!

Hello I've always used to flash Raspbian images to a USB flash drive and then copy boot partition to an SD card and point root file system in cmdline.txt as follows: change "root=/dev/mmcblk0p2" to "root=/dev/sda2" so I can boot Raspbian from USB stick, But, with the 2017-04-10 update, it becomes "r...

Re: Modify OTP to allow USB/Ethernet boot

If I understood this article correctly.. https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bootmodes/bootflow.md It might answers my second question.. Saying that the SoC checks for bootcode.bin on the SD card first, no matter the status of the boot byte on OTP. So modifying OTP to allo...

Modify OTP to allow USB/Ethernet boot

Here's a quick question, - So, after I modify the boot byte in the OTP on my RPi 3 to allow other boot options, will I be able to modify it back to disable those options if I wish? My guess is NOT, hence the OTP is called what is called.. but I won't leave this to guessing work.. - And, after I allo...
