Re: RS has been a disappointment :/
I've registered at RS Germany. Since I got no response, I've now contacted them once again via their support Email address on Friday - I hope to get a response next week... If not, I'll give them a call. I've got the feeling too, that they haven't implemented the first-come-first-serve method as ad...

Re: RS has been a disappointment :/
Unfortunately, I guess due to the sheer volume and also different sites, local based ones? RS really doesn't enforce first come first served. I have phoned them too, registering an hour or similar after the launch and they said that the first come first served doesn't really work. Somehow some count...

Re: The most expensive R-Pi of the world!
Quite the opposite: Both RS and Farnell/Newark/Element 14 are big, multinational corps that are used to selling components abroad to hundreds of countries, therefore they can't plead ignorance about methods of taxation by either the countries they're delivering to nor about fees DHL might charge th...

Re: Who's been stretched already by their Pi?
Had mine for a week, no time except reading the forums. So what I have done is get the sound working through HDMI and chatting with irssi. Just trying to figure out keyboards and usb hubs that work around here.

Re: Invitation to order from RS
For those interested, I've just had a despatch notification from RS/Parcelforce. My order number was 11xxx with registered interest within the hour of zero hour launch. It's been a long wait, but we're finally getting there. Thank god for this update. Seems a bit weird that people who registered th...

Definately cool and something that I want to have a look at. Just want my master thesis to end. Voice control XMBC together with my Arduino would be awesome.

Re: Invitation to order from RS
Been in contact with RS since some seem to have registered interest a couple of days after the launch and still received invitation to order. Seems like it's somehow first come first served on a country basis, such as smaller countries (for my case not UK) have been pushed down to make room for othe...

Re: Poll, would you have paid extra for a proved working PI
The problem is when it doesn't work. Is that the wrong type of SD card, the formatting or dd'ing done wrong, a corrupted download, a power supply or supply cable at fault, something else, or is the R-Pi faulty ? No one wants to buy additional SD cards only to find it was a supply issue, or vice-ver...

Ordered from both. (During the morning)
Not a single word from RS at all. Received my Pi from Farnell last week. So the exact opposite.

Re: Poll, would you have paid extra for a proved working PI
I wouldn't purchase a proved working SDcard really. A proved working PI isn't something I would have paid an extra fee for or something similar. It is however something that should work from the start so there shouldn't be a need for people to pay more to actually get one that works. We all bought i...

Re: Invitation to order from RS
I know I registered interest a couple of hours after the launch when I was finally able to get it. I emailed RS and asked them if I was still in the queue and they only responded with a FAQ which states they can't tell you the place in the queue, I just wanted to know if I was in the queue at all, s...

Can't you take it up to the delivery firm? I was able to change the delivery adress with UPS. But it was in the same city, not sure how far you have moved.

It's basically the same for everyone since the demand is way higher than the supply at the moment. I waited near 3 months too. Still on the waiting list and not a change to order from RS.

Re: Can I remove/unsolder some components?
I have a question that is related to this topic. It's about removing the USB unit, or at least. One of mine plans is to remove it and solder on at least one of the connectors using wires to usb hub on another place. So in that case get a tighter fit for my case and hopefully a better looking case as...

Short: Nope you should not.
Longer:
It says that the shipping is expected to start the 28th. So just relax and wait. I had the similar but last week (21st of May). But I got my first email ,that the Pi was dispatched, the 23rd of May.
