Python IDE

Hi can anyone recommend a Python IDE that I can run on a windows machine and connect to the python on my pi remotely,
I looked at pycharm but it's expensive and has a subscription, and for the odd basic work, it's an overkill for me

Re: Missing labels on the schematics 4b

hippy I agree with you, It's exactly why I wanted the see the IC part number, so I could read the data sheet, which is available. having U8 on the schematic is way more useless to me! https://www.maxlinear.com/ds/mxl7704.pdf I can see there has been a revision to the mxl7704 IS from 03 to 04 WB coul...

Re: Missing labels on the schematics 4b

All good many thanks, I just wasn't sure of the power management chip (MxL7704) but I did find a picture of the Pi and I saw the part number from there, just would have been nice to see that on the schematic

Re: Reset Button Raspberry Pi4

Many thanks, I did see this in the MaxLinear documentation, After a normal power up sequence is completed, the power down sequencing can be controlled by pulling GLOBAL EN LOW. Power down sequencing of channels follows the reverse order of power up sequencing of channels (GROUP 3 thru 0). All channe...

Reset Button Raspberry Pi4

Hi firstly sorry if im ignorant but would like to find out on how to add a "Reset" button to the Pi 4, I've tried to look for documentation and I now find myself asking the experts, The J2 Header on the Pi 4 has 3 Pins 1 Global_EN 2 Ground 3 RUN_PG2 From the schematics I see that they run to the mxl...

Thanks James,
just to clarify my initial post and to help you,

the previous docs had the component part number or its label

Missing labels on the schematics 4b

I'm looking at the schematics for the Pi 4b and whilst the information is there, you have no Idea what chip is being referred to, i see the other documents have the labels on, Was this intentional or an omission ? https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/schematics/rpi_SCH_4b_4...

Re: What is the J2 header for on the Model 4B?

I suspect it gives more than a reset, All the Pi Devices have a reset button with exception of the Rev 1Model B as far as I know, In all the Pi's I've added a reset switch I have connected the 2 pins together, however the Pi 3 , I found that I needed to connect the Run to Ground to perform the reset...

Ok Progress, my breakout kit has arrived, and I think I'm stuck, dont know if a kind person can have a look at this for me https://github.com/pcfens/RaspberryPi-AS3935 AS3935 Pin Raspberry Pi Pin 4 (GND) 25 (Ground) 5 (VDD) 1 (3v3 Power) 10 (IRQ) 17 (GPIO) 11 (I2CL) 5 (SCL) 13 (I2CD) 3 (SDA) Looking...

MOD-1016 AS3935 based lightning and storm sensor

I purchased a MOD-1016 AS3935 based lightning detector, http://www.embeddedadventures.com/datasheets/MOD-1016_hw_v4_doc_v2.pdf and while I wait for it to arrive I'm doing some homework. Looking at the schematic there are 2x 10K pullup resistors on the break out kit R1 & R2 and in the documentation i...

MiniDLNA across subnets

Ok here's the challenge. I have 2 Pi s one running MINIDLNA (working perfectly) address 192.168.1.34 The second one I have set up as a Wi-Fi hotspot as described in http://elinux.org/RPI-Wireless-Hotspot The 2nd pi has an eth0=192.168.1.2 and the Wi-FI set up with a dhcp server 192.168.42.200-192.16...

Re: Idea: Lightning dection and power/rj45/rj11 disconnectio

One way to deal with the scenario where everything's already switched on when you apply power is to do what is done in places I've worked. There's a box between the mains input and the sockets feeding the equipment, with a set of relays one for each socket, and a time delay that switches the socket...

Idea2: Pi driven washing machine

Has anyone built a Pi to drive a washing machine? I have a washing machine that I call Bruce (from Die Hard).. He's 35 years old, and might need replacing.. I've sort of got attached to him as he's served me well. Within the machine the components are quite simple, 1) Main Motor (2 speeds) and direc...

Idea: Lightning dection and power/rj45/rj11 disconnection

Ok, so here's the idea, I live in Johannesburg, during the summer months we get quite hectic lightning strikes, Every day I physically disconnect my equipment, (out the wall socket) and RJ45/RJ11 (adsl) in an attempt to protect my equipment from lightning damage. Simply disconnecting the wall switch...

Re: I2CHub with Raspberry Pi

Christoph, I must say that I'm a real beginner,
I've done a little (very little) work on i2c, and from my experience, is that you can daisy chain the i2c bus,
so looking at that little board I'd say yes that would give you a simple way of extending thei2c bus
