You need to look at the color of that square... I switched back to using TP Link mini dongle. Had nothing but problems with internal wlan and Netgear Nighthawk router

What are the temps reported just prior to lock up/freeze/crash? Are you seeing a red colored square upper right hand corner of screen? If so, get a heatsink/fan.
