Re: RasPi 3B freezing when not under any significant load

It slows to a crawl when it runs out of memory. It happens to me all the time with just one browser tab browsing, for example, Facebook. If you manage to kill Chrome task it goes back to normal. Limited DRAM is one of the major weaknesses of Raspberry Pis and hope it gets corrected with RPi4.

Re: wpa_supplicant.conf not being moved from /boot

Also had this issue with an install upgraded from Jessie to Stretch on a RPi0W. WIFI with wpa_supplicant.conf generated by retropie_setup.sh (shown below) works in path /etc/wpa_supplicant but when moved to /boot it doesn't get moved to /etc/wpa_supplicant on the next boot and thus no WIFI connectiv...

Re: Pine64+ a good deal?

I just ordered a pine64+ with wifi/bluetooth module, for me the 2GB of RAM and gigabit Ethernet for fast network shares covers the two major issues with RPi hardware and the greater OS variety covers the software. Probably a good idea to check the Pine64 forum to gauge how stable the software is. A...

Re: Samsung's Artik 10 marketing failure?

$99 isn't bad considering it includes 16GB eMMC storage, 802.11ac, USB 3.0, 2GB DRAM, etc. If the price really is $99 it will be less than Odroid XU4 with added eMMC and WIFI options. Performance wise A15 is nearly 2x faster than A53 at the same clock (see bar chart below). My RPi3 is painful as a d...

I've been buying the RS/Allied Electronics version and they've all been Made in UK so far. Element14 is supposedly all Made in PRC.

Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

Did you RMA the defective Pi 3 and was the replacement any better? My local store got new stock in so I went ahead and purchased a 3rd (UK made RS/Allied Electronics compared to PRC for Element14) to support the RPi foundation. Now on to the quick analysis. Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

Did you RMA the defective Pi 3 and was the replacement any better? The fact that the performance of the Pi 3 strongly depends on heat sink, voltage and silicon variations means each student will get different timing results when running the same algorithm using the same data on different Pi 3 compu...

Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

Picked up a 2nd RPi3 that draws more power causing the rainbow square to flash, idles at ~62C with default 'on demand' setting and shoots up to 83C just playing a little windowed 360p video. Huge discrepancy compared to the 1st RPi3 with identical attachments. This isn't just hot but defective.

Re: Things that could be added to future Raspberry Pi models

1. Needs support from the SOC supplier, and a LOT of money. (>$5M perhaps - complete chip respin including the VC4) 2. Software issue, not HW. I think it has been demonstrated somewhere. 3. There are ways of doing this, but need dedicated or custom HW, again not cheap. ($2M?) 4. Cost, and needs a c...

With rclone it looks like you already have half of the solution. To sync from OneDrive to your phone use something like Autosync OneDrive app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ttxapps.onesyncv2 And, to automate the process on the phone look into Automagic or Tasker. https://play.goo...
