Re: DHCP race causing postfix failures?

Thanks for the info. I was trying to avoid a "custom" solution, but looks like it be the only way :(

Is this a Raspbian issue or does it affect Debian too? Is it something fixed in Stretch or is it likely to be an ongoing issue?

Re: DHCP race causing postfix failures?

It turns out this hasn't fixed the problem at all; my logs are full of postfix failures today, with '/var/spool/postfix/etc/resolve.conf' not containing the DNS server again. Not sure if this is isolated to Raspbian, but it's pretty frustrating :( [email protected]:~$ cat /etc/systemd/system/dhcpcd....

Aha, that makes sense!

Is there a way to browse these to see what packages are where (eg. like packages.debian.org)?

PHP 7 on archive.raspbian.org but not in apt?

I'm a linux noob so not familiar with how these things work, but I noticed there are PHP7 files here: https://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian/pool/main/p/php7.0/ Yet if I do sudo apt list | grep php7 there are 0 results. What's the reason for this? If there are files on that server, why wouldn't they ...

Re: Why are if-up.d scripts running before DHCP is done?

You may want to edit your post and remove the 2a02:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx prefix as that's your public global address and publishing it gives the hackers a clue. I don't know what the fd1b:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx address is or why it's appearing. I'm setting up dynamic DNS specifically to allow access to my Pi, so ...

Re: Why are if-up.d scripts running before DHCP is done?

Roy suggested stashing the IP and then comparing each time that event fires. It'll work, but it doesn't sound great. Not sure if that means there isn't really an appropriate thing in DHCP6 to signify what I want, or whether it's just not easily available from dhcpcd. Logging the IP is slightly compl...

Re: Why are if-up.d scripts running before DHCP is done?

lol, I saw that afterwards. But, I was exchanging some emails with Roy Marples (the developer of dhcpcd) about logging, so I sent him this link. He advised ROUTERADVERT is what I want, so I have set this up: ## /etc/dhcpcd.exit-hook ## if [ "$interface" = eth0 ] && [ "$reason" = ROUTERADVERT ] && [ ...

Re: Why are if-up.d scripts running before DHCP is done?

Ok, so I just dumped some logging in a bunch of files, including those you mentioned that didn't already exist. Full logs at end of this post It's hard (for me!) to tell exactly when DHCPv6 is complete and the DNS would work, but I'm going to guess it's about when this line occurs: Apr 7 17:05:30 ra...

Re: Why are if-up.d scripts running before DHCP is done?

Thanks; I tried putting a file at /lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-hooks/100-ddns and it runs, but the man page says: System hook scripts are found in /lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-hooks and the user defined hooks are /etc/dhcpcd.enter-hook. and /etc/dhcpcd.exit-hook However I don't have either of those files. Why are if-up.d scripts running before DHCP is done?

I'm using DHCP and have both IPv4 and IPv6. I want to run a script that updates an IPv6 DDNS service when my network is configured. I created a script at /etc/network/if-up.d/update_dns however this script fails with a DNS resolution error (" curl: (6) Could not resolve host: dynv6.com "). The logs ...

Re: Extend root filesystem using CLI parted & resize2fs

FWIW, this seems possible with raspi-config now?

I have this at the start up my setup script:

sudo raspi-config --expand-rootfs

Not all of raspi-config seems to be scriptable, but there's a bunch of stuff that is. You can see it by examining the script (it's near the bottom) :)

Re: Trying to get fullscreen Iceweasel/Chromium on Raspian L

I think the reason iceweasel is not full screen is because it is showing the default window size. As you haven't got a window manager you don't have the option to maximize the window with the mouse. You can try pressing F11 to maximize the window. I think you will need a window manager to get the m...

Re: Trying to get fullscreen Iceweasel/Chromium on Raspian L

I though jessie lite was meant to be used headless (without monitor/GUI)? Why not just use full jessie? I have a Raspain Jessie Lite install and I'm trying to add a fullscreen browser. If you want to manipulate windows, you should use a window manager. Openbox is very light, but there are lighter options if you need them. There are also options which don't show a border or anything, but allow you to tile windows or script how they should appear. Cool; I'll have a look at that tom...

Re: Raspbian Jessie Lite now available

Why would you need a GUI just to play a video? The hardware is fully capable of displaying videos. It doesn't need menus, mouses, clicky boxes or and pretty pictures to do that. Software like omxplayer drives the hardware directly without any of the window dressing. Sure; like I said, I'm a noob. I...
