I reboot all the time because I use Sonic - Pi often ,
and it leaves the sound off when closed out of .

Re: Fastest boot version of Raspbian ...... ?

Seriously ? Buster is required to even run on the Pi4 Apart from the support and security mentioned above, there are much later versions of important software. For me, as a programmer, buster comes with Python 3.7 and GCC 8.3 The latest firmware is very clever about managing the voltages, my Pi4 ru...

You’ll always want to run the latest versions of the OS.
Even if they are slower to boot , and seem to offer no advantage ?

Re: Fastest boot version of Raspbian ...... ?

What I'm getting at is the differance between ( say ) Buster and Stretch ......
Seems ( and I do mean ' seems ' ) Buster is slower . For sure on 4 - B while
it loads the extra step , but even with 3 - B + , it seems to hesitate somewhat .

Super Collider spontaneous start .... ?

When my RPi 3 B+ ( Rasbian Buster ) first boots the audio is acceptably quiet.
When I check my email ( outlook.com ) , after ~ 1/2 minute the noise level goes way up .
It sounds the same as when Sonic Pi starts , so I surmise it is Super Collider starting .
Any ideas on preventing this ?

Maybe you've developed a hardware problem with your HDMI lead?
I'll pursue that. Works after modifying config.txt ,
but perhaps the edid sense wire (is there such a thing ?)
is defunct .

Earliest image that will boot RPi-4

From where may I download the earliest Raspbian version that will boot a RPi-4 . The reason being that I just remembered that when I first got a Pi 4 it booted ( from the image on the downloads page) just fine. No work with config txt needed. Since then something has changed in the OS that is incomp...

Re: PI 4 ( 1G , 2G , 4G )

Can't use system with no video. You can if you can ssh to it using PuTTY from your Windows system or JuiceSSH from your phone. With plain Raspbian adding a "ssh" or "ssh.txt" file to the partion that's visible to Windows will enable SSH. A tool like Fing will find a Raspberry on your network (if yo...

Why not ask the operating system grep -i 'revision' /proc/cpuinfo The first digit from that tells you the memory size 0b1100 or 0xC == 4GB 0b1011 or 0xB == 2GB 0b1010 or 0xA == 1GB Thank You ! Re: Pi 4 initial experience .... 1G vs 2G vs 4G

Try a different monitor as a test. I'll try that today out of curiosity , but it won't help ( even if it works ) much , since I have several ( of the same ( no working ) ) Not sure what you mean by Android though. Perhaps something like this : https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SKGZSB2?pf_rd_p=...
