Re: How do I clone data disk on a live system?

Copying data that is updating is not a good idea - you may get away with it at one point but it will bite you in the end  Simplest way is to create a temp card with the basic OS and use the SD card copier built into the Raspbian GUI and that will handle the difference in card sizes. Advantages...

How do I clone data disk on a live system?

Running Stretch headless off an SD card with data on an almost full SSD. What I want to do is to transfer the data on the current SSD to a larger one. Do I use rsync? What happens if one or more files change during the copy process?

Re: Yet another upgrade from jessie to strech question

I went ahead and tried to upgrade in place by following the guide at https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-upgrade- ... -9-stretch but didn't work last night. At the minimum, ssh & samba broke. Restored the system with backup and called it a night.

Re: Yet another upgrade from jessie to strech question

Thanks. The motivation to do a clean install is so I don't keep all the stuff I added/modified that I no longer need or use. For example, I tried to get a let's encrypt certificate on my RPi without luck. Tried all sorts of things and I am sure some of them don't get deleted. Looks like there is no ...

Re: Yet another upgrade from jessie to strech question

I mean start with a clean stretch and then replicate all the apps I have on the jessie.

Yet another upgrade from jessie to stretch question

If I want to "upgrade" my existing jessie to stretch from clean image, is there a way to list all my installed apps on my current setup?

RPi 3 - WiFi and wired LAN

Is there anything bad about connecting a RPi 3 to my router both with an etherenet cable and WiFi at the same time? Or Should I just stick with one?

Re: Kodi 15/16 Packages for Raspbian

Thank you for you help. The reason I have not posted to Kodi official forum is because the problem is unique to my RPi3 installation. I have no issue with my Nexus Player Kodi app. Anyway, I have created a thread there ( https://forums.tvaddons.ag/getting-started-with-kodi/45926-cant-run-hgtv-add.h...

Re: Kodi 15/16 Packages for Raspbian

Where can I find a default kodi config file? I already explained you. For more information read the Kodi wiki http://kodi.wiki/. For more questions about using Kodi it is better for you to ask in the Kodi oficial forums. Thank you for you help. The reason I have not posted to Kodi official forum is...

Re: Kodi 15/16 Packages for Raspbian

I still have problem with HGTV addon after I reinstalled Kodi 16.1 on my Raspbian Pi3. Is there a place I can upload my log file so someone can look at it and see if there is any setup issues?
Thanks

Re: Kodi 15/16 Packages for Raspbian

I tested Travel Channel and Food Network in Kodi 16.1 and they are working just fine. Check if you have enabled the software decoding in config.txt. Recheck your Kodi config/setup and check also your log file. PS: PiPplware Kodi packages were always based in popcornmix rbp backports kodi branch + s...

Re: Kodi 15/16 Packages for Raspbian

I have an issue with add on's from Kodi add-on repository. I added HGTV, Food Network & Travel Channel recently to Kodi 16.1. When I selected an episode, the audio start playing but the screen still show the episode list. If I leave it alone, the audio will stop after few seconds. If I manually swit...

Re: Samba failed under Raspbian jessie

I am confused.
https://lists.debian.org/debian-securit ... 00124.html mentioned the issue is fixed but I encountered the bug almost 2 wks after that post. How do I do upgrade to resolve the issue?

Samba failed under Raspbian jessie

I did an "apt-get update" & "apt-get upgrade" in preparation to install another package. Toward the end of apt-get upgrade, I got the following message: Job for smbd.service failed. See 'systemctl status smbd.service' and 'journalctl -xn' for details. invoke-rc.d: initscript smbd, action "start" fai...
