Re: Pi 3 as wiireless client and wireless AP?

If your using two wifi cards change uap0 to the interface you want the AP to broadcast on.. This uap0 in the instructions here is for using only the built in wifi with no second wifi card. So perhaps in this tutorial you can replace uap0 with wlan1 in all the configuration and don't use the iw comma...

You can use them for anything you want. I'd be interested in knowing more about your project also.

Re: Pi 3 as wiireless client and wireless AP?

Mine says this also, but it works.. It should say AP ENABLED. Perhaps set your channel the same in the hostapd.conf?
So your AP on uap0 and wifi on wlan0 use the same channel.

Re: Pi 3 as wiireless client and wireless AP?

Well what is wlan1? None of the instructions mentioned wlan1? Are you making the virtual interface called wlan1 instead of uap0? wlan* are dedicated interfaces for non virtual devices I believe this might be the issue.

Re: travel router help

This configuration is for One wireless card. It will run as AP. While also connecting to a wireless network and acting as a bridge. If any issues, please ask. Get root shell: sudo bash apt-get install hostapd dnsmasq Uncomment and edit these lines in /etc/dnsmasq.conf interface=lo,uap0 no-dhcp-inter...

Re: HELP - complete boot only when I connect SSH

Ok, so module works now. I just added dtoverlay=i2c-rtc,ds3231 to /boot/config.txt. Now how do I force sincronisation of date with hwclock? Do I just add hwclock -s to /etc/rc.local and if I do so do I need to put sudo in front of hwclock -s? sudo doesn't need to be before anything in rc.local beca...

Re: HELP - complete boot only when I connect SSH

& sends the command to the background. There is background and foreground. You can control z while something is being executed and send to background. And be dropped back to shell. And resume the executable by typing fg

Re: HELP - complete boot only when I connect SSH

Your boot is hanging what script is outputting have a nice day?
If it's the /etc/switch.sh try adding a & after it.
/etc/switch.sh &
Something is in the foreground and not in background in your init scripts.

Re: HELP - complete boot only when I connect SSH

From where it puts you after boot, on the console press: Control+alt+f1
Or control+alt+f2 through f6
Nothing shows a console/login prompt?

Re: HELP - complete boot only when I connect SSH

You can run sudo raspi-config and choose option 3 again to change it back to boot to console. And then run kodi-standalone to start up kodi.

Re: HELP - complete boot only when I connect SSH

Run sudo raspi-config
And choose option 3 to enable boot to desktop because I believe some commands that were executed wrote over the boot to desktop configuration. Also when you login from a shell it shouldn't want to start the X server. Those configurations can be disabled from /home/pi/.bashrc

Re: HELP - complete boot only when I connect SSH

Perhaps you do not have the RTC module? Or something is wrong with the lines you added in /etc/rc.local Try removing the lines which were added to your rc.local file so it doesn't start at boot. Seems to be interfering with your auto initialization. Then reboot and see if that fixes your problem? If...

Sounds like your missing a window manager. Lightdm just a display manager. Install a window manager perhaps the command sudo apt-file search /usr/share/xsessions Will provide a list you can choose from? Or you can install xfce4 or any other wm. sudo apt-get install xfce4 xfce4-goodies Or change your...

Re: Pi 3 as wiireless client and wireless AP?

If anyone experiences network performance issues it can be remedied if you use the same wpa password on AP and virtual interface and/or same channel.

Re: apt-get slowness

I was just confirming chadg's observation that there is a problem with the Broadcom wifi. There are at least 2 other threads going on the subject... ;-) Right now I don't really care about wifi speed on the pi3 - it was the only anomaly noted in my regression/overclocking tests... I have no issues ...

I'm using HDD's on both - SD card does not get used for anything after they boot up (Except firmware updates) Just tried again on the Pi3 with the card removed; as expected it made no difference... Does df -h show similarities in both pi 2 and 3? Does your fstab look similar on both. Is something u...

Re: apt-get slowness

Which type of sdcard do you have in the pi3? I noticed a serious speed reduction using anything other than an sdhc sdcard. I believe it's more related to sdcard write speed than network speed.
