Re: Pan-Tilt base

I would like to be able to purchase a Raspberry Pi (RPi) 3b compatible camera, capable of IR (for night vision) and also zoom. Is there a platform that would allow me to mount such a camera as this, and control the pan (left-right) movement, and also the tilt (up-down) movement, so that I can have ...

anyone installed a Pi Zero into a garden solar panel?

I'm searching for input from anyone that has hacked a Pi Zero into or onto a cheap solar panel meant for charging a wireless security camera or possibly garden solar lights. Pointers to better places and persons to ask and search keyword tips appreciated. Background: Best Buy has a Ring Solar Panel ...

Re: No Idea Where To Start

Thanks for the replies so far. I will look at the links you have all given. If anyone else has something to add then that would be cool. Truth is I bought an ESCAM QF003 to utilize for the project. Idea was to learn their camera, dismantle, and then reassemble. It used a Real Tek PIC (I think that'...

Re: USB Replacement.

I know this sounds like a super silly question but is it possible to solder a new USB port on my Raspberry Pi? I have a original Raspberry pi that I use frequently for setting up my Pi Zeros SD cards. But I dropped it on the ground with a USB WI-Fi card inside of it. Because the Pi was inside of a ...

Re: Turning on Zero W every hour

Great to hear your update. Please post more once you have some performance figures, perhaps some using different battery capacities. It lasted only 5 days on a 1200mAh battery (turning on every hour for 56-58 seconds). I'll try to test and optimize more. That frame looks really cool project. I wond...

Re: Turning on Zero W every hour

Finally found time to put together all the components listed in my previous post. I connected the Done pin of TPL5110 to BCM 12 pin of the Pi, and added the following line to /boot/config.txt: dtoverlay=gpio-poweroff,active_high,gpiopin=12 I also added a script to /etc/rc.local that updates the dis...

Re: pi-zero + 2 wifi dongles Router/Repeater

Since I travel a lot for work, I was thinking of taking the pi0 in a small box with two wifi adapters. Is it possible to have the pi0 connecting to a mifi/jetpack and also broadcasting as a hotspot. Reason being is that the WAN connection I have for work is a mobile hotspot using wifi. I was thinki...

What country are you in, and what kind of projects do you envision using it for? Besides the basics, you may consider picking a few extras depending on what you plan to do.

I've owned a Pi for a few months now. Just started learning a few things. Rebooted it by accident, but now it all looks different. I can still watch movies, but have no way of configuring or adding. Again, totally new to this. But would someone recommend a book or site to buy that could help me fix...

Re: Solderless clean shutdown/boot switch

Has anyone got a script to work using Pin5 (GPIO3) to ground on Pi2 or Pi3 running headless using Raspbian? Mine just initiate shutdown immediately unless a monitor is connected.

Using a different GPIO pins do work headless, and oddly so does a Pi Zero using Pin5.

Re: Solderless clean shutdown/boot switch

I'm having trouble with the system instigating shutdown right after booting up when no monitor is connected to HDMI. I have a serial cable connection so can see services starting then stopping and entering halt state. It's something with the script because the button works as intended when a monitor...

Re: Will running the Pi from a USB source damage it?

I am using the Pi Model 3 B as a looping video player (with OpenElec installed) showing various advertisements and product information for our store. I'm trying to build a battery powered system with an e-paper display. It would wake up every hour, make an HTTP request (e.g., to a twitter feed), update the display and shut down. Everything seems to be pretty straightforward, except for the waking up every hour part. I'd like to avoid using bulky...

It sounds like the ethernet module driver isn't loading, thus something is wrong with the syntax in config.txt or cmdline.txt files. Double check that you have the formatting correct.
