Re: Pi stops updating in kiosk mode after 15 mins

Have you tried to open the task manager after a fresh boot and see if the memory is getting used more and more as time goes on? Sounds like a memory leak is killing all your resources. I had this happen a while back when I had a tkinter GUI running and was not properly destroying a widget when it w...

Re: Pi stops updating in kiosk mode after 15 mins

Still no resolution for this issue, thought I'd bump it up here since it's buried 5 pages in already.

Pi stops updating in kiosk mode after 15 mins

I'm running an RPi2 in kiosk mode (the mirror project). It's working fine now except that after about 15 minutes it stops updating weather, time, and messages and eventually freezes up completely. If I leave it run for awhile (hours) after freezing, I get Chrome's "Oh Snap" error page. The only thin...

Re: Beginning with Pi - confused with versions

So we took a shortcut for the time being... I found an .img file for the project online and wrote it to the card. It works, kind of, but there are obviously still some things that need to be addressed. Since it's set to start at boot, how do I exit it to go back to the desktop since it's lacking the...

Re: Beginning with Pi - confused with versions

Incidentally, how long should that partition resize take? It's been going for about 45 mins so far without a change other than the little scrolling status bar. It shouldn't take more than a minute or so for that stage of the install. huh... okay. So I stopped that, but then when I tried to read the...

Re: Beginning with Pi - confused with versions

I read through that a little bit ago. Got it working... I moved the files out to the main SD folder rather than being in the NOOBS folder and it boots now. The most irritating thing about working with that card is that after about the third time we had the card in/out the reader failed and won't hol...

Re: Beginning with Pi - confused with versions

Well, it's downloaded, unzipped on the SD card, but now it won't boot when I plug it in. Just a black screen and then my monitor goes into power save mode after a few minutes......

Re: Beginning with Pi - confused with versions

I'll give NOOBS a shot again once it downloads if it already contains Jessie. I've tried downloading it on a wired connection and it keeps either failing or stalling.....wonderful connections we have around here!

Re: Beginning with Pi - confused with versions

To install the image I can't just do that on a blank, formatted SD card, right?

Beginning with Pi - confused with versions

Some of my students came to me with the MirrorMirror project idea. I figured we'd give it a shot, but I have a few questions. We've tried following the tutorials online, but it's the system itself that's getting me. We have a RPi2 that came preinstalled with Wheezy. If I'm understanding some of the ...
