Re: Moving files to the pi over network

The problem ended up being a bit more straightforward. Cygwin doesn't have scp, and cp can't reach the remote machine. From the putty SSH window, it can't reach the windows machine since windows doesn't accept SSH requests. I was assuming that scp was basically an encrypted cp, but, of course, it is...

Moving files to the pi over network

Yes, I already googled, but can't seem to get it working. I've got a windows box and the pi i know the general format is: scp - [file path] [email protected].168.0.108 [destination path] I've tried two things: 1. ssh into the pi, try to copy the files. Problem is i can't seem to specify a local (windows file s...

omxplayer won't blank screen in x

If I ctrl+alt+f2 and do omxplayer -r %f it works as expected (though sometimes keyboard controls will unblank the letterboxes. Is there a way to reblank them while running the movie?) The issue comes when I attempt to launch it from a terminal emulator in an x session I've tried -b and -r but neithe...

Re: New UPS for Raspberry Pi - S.USV

Not sure what price point you are going for, but the battery size seems pretty puny. 2-3000 mah portable charges are sub $10 and would be something I'd be interested in for a pi

Re: Pyobfuscate ?

Generally, the best solution to pirating is to make your product and delivery better and more convenient. Way back when, I bought music on CDs. I started using p2p programs not because it was free, but because I wanted to play music through my computer and downloading was easier than ripping or goin...

Ideas for teaching English as a foreign language?

So I'm teaching myself to program, but I'm not teaching CS or anything. I'm teaching English overseas. I'm looking for ideas for projects to work on or ways to utilize a pi in the classroom.

I'm currently working on a text based adventure game, but I'm looking for other ideas as well.

Re: A complete beginner learning python

Ok, lets make a function and pass info to it. I took that "while monhealth > 0:" and added: def fight(monster): while monhealth > 0: print("The" + monster + "is alive") ... Then I called it: fight('snake') Error, unexpected indent. Didn't get the whole thing. Tricked myself by not indenting a commen...

Re: A complete beginner learning python

Let's add those short cuts: if action == "heal" or "h": health += 20 if action == "attack" or "a": health -= 40 That doesn't work. It runs both of them every time. Let's try this: if action == ("heal" or "h"): health += 20 if action == ("attack" or "a"): health -= 40 Nope, that runs neither. if acti...

Re: A complete beginner learning python

So, as a first project I'm going to try and make a simple RPG game. If we are going to be fighting monsters, I figure we need to know if they are alive or dead. Tools needed: set a variable, read that variable with an if/else. Failure #1 #set a variable health = 100 #boolean based on that variable a...

A complete beginner learning python

This is kind of going to be a running commentary on me figuring stuff out. hopefully, it will someday be edited into something that will be useful for other people learning to write code. My only experience programing was a CS 101 class a little over a decade ago where we learned some java. Well, th...
