Re: Uae4arm: Amiga emulator with JIT and DispmanX

i know this isn't joypad related but i had problems as well with just using a keyboard (encoder from my picade) the problem with controls is that when you use dpad as mouse or dpad as joystick for example it has some hardcoded keys linked to them (that's how it was programmed for the pandora). I had...

keyboard to mouse emulator (for my picade and scummvm)

Hi, i currently own a picade from pimoroni. since i don't have nor want to attach a mouse to my picade i had no way on playing the games from scummvm on it and i could not find a keyboard mouse emulator. So spend the last 3 days creating one in python. The emulator should start when you start scummv...

Re: DraStic DS emulator for RPi 2/3 - beta testers wanted

Hi Exophase, I remember you from the good old gp2x / wiz / canoo days (i never had / programmed for the pandora) ;) Anyway i tested drastic and there currently are 3 issues i know of, one is servere and 1 request i have that might be benificial to others as well (dealing with stylus movement) 1) on ...

Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

When i do make -j4 for building ffmpeg from ppsspp emulator on retropie system image it goes to 85°C and throttles back although not immediatly to 600mhz it stays around 700mhz but temprature is between 80 and 85°C while throttling. 1150mhz or 700mhz throttling is a huge diffrence imo. Also the RPI3...

Re: screen quality not so great in retro pie emulators

look it up for you on my system. you can access the config's using a samba share \\ipofyourpi then goto config\all directory and open / edit retroarch.cfg the setting your looking for is "video_smooth = true" change it to "video_smooth = false" then test the emulators again. you can also edit this f...

Re: screen quality not so great in retro pie emulators

i think you have to look in the settings (config directory) in possibly retroarch.cfg, by default on retropie uses a smoothing filter (in the settings of retroarch) so all emulators using retroarch / libretro got that blur effect. I think your tralking about this http://blog.petrockblock.com/forums/...

is it possible to compile a newer gcc/ g++ on the pi itselve

Hi, I'm wondering about speed diffrences between compiler versions when building applications with the same flags just diffrent compiler version and what kind of improvements there might be either negative or positive. While i managed to build a cross compiler on a virtual machine on my pcc and coul...

Re: best way to cross compile for all pis?

if you do test a diffrent compiler version like for example 5.2 or so, could you post your findings when compiling with the same flags on the newer / older compiler and the stock pi compiler. I was trying yesterday to crosscompile ppsspp in a virtual machine running ubuntu gnome. I managed to get th...

Re: Pi3 incorrect results under load (possibly heat related)

i actually don't like reaching the cpu throttling temprature (80-85°C) in *normal* use but to be fair i only reached it using the ppsspp emulator from retropie while running a 3d game for some time and while building from sources using make -j4 on the pi itselve (when (re)building ppsspp). it did no...

Re: Pi3 incorrect results under load (possibly heat related)

Earlier I reported that one of my boards was able to run the benchmark with over_voltage=2. I've now done a longer test and sadly it still fails sometimes (9 out of 10 runs are fine) with incorrect results. The other board even fails with over_voltage=4. And raising the voltage like mad cannot be a...

Re: Pi3 incorrect results under load (possibly heat related)

just a quick consideration but could compile flags have a influence on the calculations and / or checks ? consider the following quote from "https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-4.9.2/gcc/ARM-Options.html" in the -mfpu section -mfpu=name If the selected floating-point hardware includes the NEON extens...

Re: best way to cross compile for all pis?

You could let people compile it on the pi itselve as well using the sources. In that case you can do something like retropie does Have look here https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/7c7a2ad2ab8f551d6f889d88a4e295f190fde76d/scriptmodules/system.sh#L141 they basically check /proc/cpuinfo fo...

Re: What do you use your screen for ?

thanks, that might have been it, in changed it in XFCE settings (not using lxde anymore), also changed the maximum change there could be between pixels to 8. If i click the second time 9 or more pixels away from the last click it's not registered as double click. It's a bit easier but i still find m...

Re: Tutorial: Compile VLC with HW acceleration - Jessie, RPi

works fine when i tested it at home on the screen itselve. I guess the previous version i had build would have worked as well, i just had to look on the real screen. The overlay is a bit weird though but i guess it's normal for this openmax output. For fun i was trying out the other video outputs bu...

What do you use your screen for ?

I had bought the official screen, but i find myselve not using the touchscreen part what so ever and it's just sitting with a pi2 attached in a stand on my desk not doing much. I also find using the touchscreen in LXDE a pain, double clicking is rather difficult and does not register for some reason...

Re: Tutorial: Compile VLC with HW acceleration - Jessie, RPi

would building on RPI3 with -mcpu=cortex-a53 -mfpu=neon-fp-armv8 make any (speed) diffrence ? don't have a pi3 to test with though since i'm using my pi3 in a picade but i had (re)build ppsspp with those flags although did not see any diffence. compiling with those flags would make the vlc binarie o...

Re: Compile VLC with HW acceleration - complete tutorial

i had it build on jessie (for RPI2) but for some reason video does not seem to be playing although not sure since i was using a vnc connection to view it would have to check on the actual screen when i get home. I also used the 2.2.0 tarball. Installed the prerequistes mentioned on page 1. Ran boots...

Re: Pi3 incorrect results under load (possibly heat related)

I've been testing some more. i'm using this script in one ssh session to show temps & cpu frequency based on part of the retropie login message #!/bin/bash function cputemp() { local cpuTempC local cpuTempF local gpuTempC local gpuTempF if [[ -f "/sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp" ]]; then cpuTe...

Re: Pi3 incorrect results under load (possibly heat related)

Hey, i just tested this as well. I had a simple sh script that kept echoing the cpu temp in one ssh connection and was running the program you supplied in another ssh connection over wifi. My pi3 locked up while the last shown value of cpu temp / gpu temp was 73°C. Now it could be that the wifi or s...
