Home Automation Step 1

Picture of the project as its begun, http://picpaste.com/IMG_0643.JPG As its a huge picture not sure how this forum makes the images not blow out the post... DANGER ATTACHING ELECTRIC HEATERS CAN CAUSE FIRES BE EXTREMELY CAREFULL. I added a warning first in case someone else does it and leaves cloth...

Code for PAIRING Pi-mote Energenie 4 sockets

This code is so you can PAIR 4 sockets using the pi-mote. There is an error on socket 4 OFF, until i fix that you will need alternative code at end of post to correctly control them after being paired. Pi: Raspberry PI 2B+ Also tested on Raspberry PI 3. OS: Jessie Lite (update May 2016) Device: ENER...

Re: sensor to detect only human presence

With security you have to think of animal behaviour too. The last thing you want is to deactivate the alarm because the cat is a traitor and follows the burglar around lol. You can combine things, this is very time consuming, but more effective, with pets its always more difficult because you cant p...

My Pi Adventures

I am writing this article AS a beginner myself for other beginners. Dont be scared to attempt anything you can think of, someone somewhere will have written a full guide to achieve it. Talk to sellers before buying parts, its easy to spend a lot of money, and then find cheaper parts do the same or i...

Re: Pi 3 Overheating Issue?

I dont know much about the pi im still at the learning stage, and i jumped in with both feet lol. What I do know however is cooling. Having read tons about cooling specifically in relation to the pi's themselves, because when i got my first pi, i was straight in with the mindset heatsink / fan, this...

Power for multiple PI's

Now my collection is growing, sadly my sockets are not lol. What my question is - As the pi's are now taking up too many power outlets, which UK usb hub can be used to power at least 5 raspberry pi's? When i search online most provide 5v at 500mA but my pi's use mostly 5v 2A and the greedy pi 3, use...

How to hack an LED strip?

My pi's run headless, and i think im headless right behind them lol because my pi knowledge is incredibly basic. I've ordered a powered usb with switches, and an led RGB switch controlled strip. I decided now i got my first project completed (many thanks to those who helped and were patient with me)...

Once enabled the shares became visible via \\RASPBERRYPI I also made a mistake, i was sending the server the user credentials, thats my own fault when i used the samba use...

Re: Totally and utterly lost

Update: I still have no idea why samba wont work.
When i type smbtree -L 192.168.0.5 i get
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
I barely understand the command, let alone what its trying to tell me is wrong.

Totally and utterly lost

My plan is really simple: I have a PI with a 4TB drive. That much works. It mounts from boot. I tried samba and got nowhere windows 7 doesnt see the pi most of the time and wont even join the \\RASPBERRYPI to an IP when it does finally see it and as soon as the computer reboots NO MORE PI :( until i...
