Re: Why in 2017 do we still not have BTRFS in Raspbian?

rpdom, do you care about the integrity of your data?

Cause on EXT4 I'm pretty sure there is no way you can know for sure that it's all actually in-tact.

At least with BTRFS, it can actually verify file contents against a checksum so I know if there is a problem.

Re: Why in 2017 do we still not have BTRFS in Raspbian?

Then let's somehow get support built into Raspbian, perhaps in this case it entails having to build it directly into the kernel, but seriously who cares? Pretty sure the smallest MicroSD card I can buy in a retail shop now is 16gb! Opens the Raspberry up to a range of cool file system features and e...

Re: Why in 2017 do we still not have BTRFS in Raspbian?

It's 2019 and it looks like the devs are continuing to ignore BTRFS despite practically every other Linux distro now having built-in support. Furthermore ZSTD compression is now available in BTRFS which Raspberry could benefit from significantly due to the truely awesome compression ratios and relat...

Re: GPIO Detect Circuit open or Closed

Solved! :D Below script displays the current state on script start and then only when it changes. Perfect for my home automation application! import RPi.GPIO as GPIO import time from time import sleep GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BCM) GPIO.setup(21, GPIO.IN, pull_up_down=GPIO.PUD_UP) previous = "null"...

GPIO Detect Circuit open or Closed

Hey folks, I've got a simple script to detect if a circuit is opened or closed, the issue is it reports the state non-stop every second. What I am trying to do is print the message only if it changes eg from closed to open. This way I can have it send a message to my home automation system saying a ...

Berryboot ISCSI target BTRFS-TOOLS

I have found a problem with btrfs-tools v4.9.1 (and lower) when using Raspbian installed on a Berryboot ISCSI target. Boots to ISCSI target with BTRFS file system http://www.berryterminal.com/doku.php/storing_your_files_on_a_synology_nas_using_iscsi Terminal command output: btrfs version btrfs-progs...

Why in 2017 do we still not have BTRFS in Raspbian?

With such huge demand for the file system, it's a legitimate question to ask why the devs keep rejecting it? In my experience with Raspberry Pi BTRFS is more reliable and there are a huge number of people following guides to get it working via initramfs but it breaks when updating the Raspberry Pi k...

Re: Kernel package update deletes /lib/modules of older kern

Aydan, thanks for your post, I run a custom initramfs to use BTRFS on my root file system. Upon updating to the latest kernel my Pi was also unbootable even after re-generating the initramfs, I tried restoring from a backup and repeating the procedure just to be sure. I was able to solve the problem...

Re: Raspbian's new insanely bad design decision: DHCP Static

This has to be one of the worst decisions I have ever seen made by Raspbian with not including BTRFS support in the kernel as second. Did anyone stop to think about the amount of useful functionality in /etc/network/interfaces? In Wheezy I had a network bond between eth0 and wlan0 with active-backup...

Re: 2 RPI3 with 2 SD both not booting

massively disappointed, I've spent about 500+ hours building my home automation system on top of Raspbian Wheezy, thought I'd get a PI3 for the improved performance, there is no way I can spend the time to re-build the system on top of Jessie, it's just too time consuming. I think Raspberry Pi found...
