Re: Peppy player

Waveshare has several models of the 5" display. The disk image works with the model which looks like this: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61zCVFPtA0L._SL1158_.jpg If you have different model then you need to install the Headless disk image then install display driver on top of it. ...

Re: Peppy player

I didn't try it myself (still have several RPi 3), so I cannot say for sure but I don't see any reason why it would not work. If anybody tried please let me know. Thank you!

Re: 7" Touch screen Issue with resulotion

This is a well-known "feature" of the official 7" touchscreen. It has a non-square pixel. It's extended horizontally. This was discussed several times already. Unfortunately you will not find this info in the technical specification.

The patched library works fine for all Peppy player disk images:

I download it from the Dropbox account mentioned in the first post.

Re: Permissions to direct SDL/Pygame to Framebuffer with SSH session

Weird, it works for me with Raspbian Buster Lite OS. The whole Peppy player UI is based on Pygame and it works under 'pi' user. I start it from /etc/rc.local this way:
su pi -c 'cd /home/pi/Peppy; openvt -s -- python3 peppy.py'
You can try to run your program the same way openvt ...

Good luck

Is it possible to connect two Pi Zero modules as I2C slaves to Pi3/Pi4? Will pigpio support it?
Still hoping to get the answer from pigpio experts...

Thanks in advance!

Что у вас установлено на SD карте, какая OS? Подключено к малине ещё что-нибудь - вентилятор или ещё что?

Удачи

Re: Peppy player

Hi Daniel, What's the size/resolution of the HDMI displays which you've ordered? In all Peppy Player disk images which I distribute I use console mode for UI which is based on Raspbian Lite OS. It means that the player's UI is the only UI and there is no desktop UI. At the moment I don't know how to...

I hope you’ve seen the Peppy Meter wiki pages already: https://github.com/project-owner/PeppyMeter.doc/wiki It can give you some idea what could be currently done i...

Regarding web development, you probably found web/server and web/client folders. It's pretty clear and obvious code separation. Under web/client there are two sub-folders: config and configdev. The former one is used in "production". It contains compiled/compressed code used during runtime in browse...

Re: Noob question about power...

Hi, You need to answer the following questions: - How many voltages do you need? Do you need only the single +5V or you also need +12V or any other voltage? - What is the power consumption of each component in your system? It's usually defined by the consumed current measured either in mA or A. Mult...

Re: Peppy player

MrGibbage, You correctly described the slideshow functionality. When the screensaver starts it loads all images from the defined folder into memory cache to eliminate disk I/O operations. I did not make any load testing. So it's hard to say how many images it can handle. It depends on your Pi model/...

Hi MrGibbage, I've never tried to install 7" over 3.5". That's why I cannot guarantee that all that stuff installed by LCD-show can co-exist with 7" driver. My recommendation would be to use separate SD card for 3.5" and the other for 7" just in case you'll decide to go back. Another recommendation ...

Re: Peppy player

Hi MrGibbage, The player handles m3u playlists itself. It reads the file and feeds filenames from that file to audio players (vlc etc) one by one. It doesn't handle directives which you can have in EXTM3U comments. So simple M3U is enough. I have a pretty long list of requirements for the next relea...

Hi MrGibbage, As you mentioned that extra slash should not affect anything but I'll check from where it comes. Oops, late night changes... :( The file should be fetched from the github. So the commands should be:

Code: Select all

git checkout config.txt
git checkout current.txt
git pull
This time it should work. Sorry about that.
