Re: Peppy player

If you are planning to use the Random Screensaver please follow these steps: 1. login to Pi 2. cd Peppy 3. git fetch 4. git checkout origin/master -- screensaver/random/random.py That should pull the patched file for the Random Screensaver from GitHub. I'll fix the disk images during coming weekend....

The bug in the Random Screensaver was found by one of the player users. Please refrain from using that screensaver until I provide the fix.

Re: Peppy player

If you use HiFiBerry Amp/Amp2 you need to change the default setting 'Headphone' to the 'Digital' in the configuration file /home/pi/Peppy/config.txt. So it should look like this: [volume.control] type = amixer amixer.scale = linear amixer.control = Digital WARNING!!! Don't start playback without mo...

The problem is in the file encoding. When the player reads the file it expect encoding utf-8, but the file was saved from browser as utf-8-sig.

Re: Peppy player

Hi Alex, Assuming that that was the only change, more likely the issue is related to the encoding of the file weather-config.txt if you changed it from the Web UI. To fix that issue you can login using Putty and then run the following command. The exact folder name can be different. It depends on th...

Re: Best solution for voice recognition to open audio file?

Hi, I'm planning to do the same in the Peppy Player: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=139983 I've implemented the voice commands already using Google Voice Assistant: https://developers.google.com/assistant/sdk/guides/service/python So, you can control the player by voice comm...

Re: tips on embedding rpi

Is the clock functionality the only task for Pi? If this is the case and you don't need desktop you can use Raspbian Lite OS and start your script from /etc/rc.local. To remove scrolling boot messages in the file /boot/cmdline.txt change fbcon=map:10 to fbcon=map:2

Good luck

Re: Peppy player

Hi Sylvain, I'll wait when you add the HiFiBerry DAC. That will allow me to publish your project on the HiFiBerry forum as well ;) Their DACs allow to connect the second GPIO connector where you can attach the display. Though you need to solder it yourself and that actually breaks the warranty :( Bu...

Re: Progress bar in python output window

You are right, you need several constants declared in the same file. I hope you don't call it the real dependency ;) Regarding UTF-8, I just found that block character is the best one for this task. And it's simple to replace it by something else. Just change the constant. Regarding off-by-one probl...

Just to echo the previous post - you can use the framebuffer. It does not need X-Windows. If you can program in Python then you can also use Pygame with framebuffer. Here is the configuration example: https://github.com/project-owner/Peppy/blob/6f329489ee5cea05e57edcfdbda8c5457d7caf64/util/config.py...

You can use Yahoo!Weather web service directly without any wrappers:

I used it for the Weather screensaver in the Peppy Player:
