Some update. As said, the Webcam microphone does not work on Skype 4.2. When skype is launched from command line, upon establishing a call I see thousands of error lines like the one below, for the duration of the call: snd_pcm_avail_update() returned a value that is exceptionally large: 48384 bytes...

Not a matter of stability. Video works fine both ways, sound only works one direction. Hack does not help, same behaviour with version 4.2 and 4.3. By the way, Camera mic works fine with other applications, both ARM and i686. Eltechs never showed it working fully nor is replying to these questions. ...

I confirm having the same exact message using
dtoverlay=gpio-poweroff,gpiopin=27,active_low="y"
Tried to play a bit with the line. Which GPIO pin does not matter, nor the active low part.
Yesterday I upgraded to a PI3 and I get the same. Can't be right...
