Re: cant update rasbien

If you do sudo apt update (instead of apt-get) it will prompt you with a y/n question about accepting the change from testing to stable.

Answer y and you're good to go.

Re: Which SSD to buy for raspberry pi?

For my 3B+ I have an Inland 120gb ssd and an Inland usb2 enclosure. Total was $23. (Inland is the house brand from Microcenter). I’m using it as my boot drive and works perfectly. I’m waiting for usb booting to be enabled on the Pi4 before I move the drive over from the 3. And I’ll also need a usb 3...

Adafruit had some stock of the Pi4/4 today.

But a few hours later...gone.

"They're flying off the shelves" is almost literally true.

There's no way that those joints came out of the solder wave machine like that. At some point in its life, it has seen the pointy end of a soldering iron.

You're supposed to use the pointy end?!? D'oh!

Re: pi 4 stops working

i had return the board to shop,he already received 2 failed boards ,1 due to heavy heat another not booting with new Os. so raspberry pi foundation is making r & d with this pi4 .its not stable as pi3 or pi3 b+. waste of money putting on pi4 . Probably wrong power supplies, bad sd cards, etc.

Re: RPi4 chargers

They are sold out everywhere ? none for sale in the US My local Microcenter had gobs of them last time I was there. Both colors. So, they are getting to the US. Ah...but will Microcenter take on-line orders for them? (For many of us there is no such thing as a "local" Microcenter. Nearest one to me...

Re: When does Amazon recieve the new Raspberry Pi's?

As far as I know, Amazon is not an official Pi reseller.

So any Pis that show up there will be from 3rd party sellers.

Not necessarily anything wrong with that, just sayin’.

Re: Does the pi throttle for temperature regardless of OS?

I just realized I have no idea if temp monitoring and throttling happens somewhere in firmware or if it's handled by Raspbian. Does it still throttle if running something else like lubuntu? Trejan gave the answer. Now... I want you to think about something. What would be the consequences, if therma...

It has already been updated twice.

First the camera connector was added then the wireless module.

A version with a pre soldered header strip was also made available.

I walked into my local Microcenter and bought a Pi 4/4gb (plus power supply) the day after its debut.

They still have plenty of 1gb and 2gb models.

nodered update & 240+ new packages?

When doing an apt update/upgrade there was 1 update to nodered which led to 240+ new packages installed.

I just wanted to be sure that's correct. Haven't seen that before.

Re: RPI4, out of order and Spectre vulnerabilities

Specter and Meltdown became extremely well known simply because their names invoke frightening images. Like something out of a Bond movie.

The pop media outlets caught on and ran with it.

Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

I have a few of these for my Pis: https://amzn.com/B01LXSMY1N/ It provides lots of air flow and the fan is very quiet. I didn't bother with the heat sinks. I started up my Pi4 for the first time today. The board was mostly at idle, desktop & Chromium were running for about 30 minutes but not really ...
