Re: We want "more"

Or make less more more instead of no more:

Code: Select all

whatis less
less (1) - hyponym of more

Re: We want "more"

:)

This is in .bashrc on the PI

Code: Select all

# make less more friendly for non-text input files, see lesspipe(1)
#[ -x /usr/bin/lesspipe ] && eval "$(SHELL=/bin/sh lesspipe)"
Uncommenting helped, I do wonder if less shouldn't be more by default.

We want "more"

whatis less less (1) - opposite of more On most modern Linux systems I can use less to open /var/log/syslog AND compressed syslog files. On the RPI4 this fails: less /var/log/syslog.2.gz "/var/log/syslog.2.gz" may be a binary file. See it anyway? I can use zless , and also zless to open /var/log/sy...

I had no audio issues this time. For WIFI no improvement in my setup, on the contrary AP with channel 12 was less stable with the new firmware. Had myriads messages in syslog: hostapd: wlan0: STA xx:xx:xx:xx IEEE 802.11: disassociated Reverted: sudo apt-get install --reinstall raspberrypi-bootloader...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

The RPF people are aware of the issue that some HDMI video modes generate frequencies that can interfere with WiFi, and, according to this post they are attempting to solve the problem with software: Friday's rpi-update firmware release includes a patch to choose an HDMI mode for [email protected] wit...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

Most people out there I've spoken think it is a Raspberry Pi 4 problem and not a faulty HDMI cable. That's probably because most people have been led to believe that expensive and so-called better HDMI cables are not necessary, are a money-taking scam; cheap cable is just fine, and in most cases it...

Reproduced problem testing 2 cables and 2 monitors. Problem more complex than thought, because not only cable but also the monitor is causing issues. Also, counter intuitive HDM1 is worse than HDMI0 on ONE monitor. SETUP RPI4 2GB Official PSU Cable (1) micro HDMI 1.4 Cable (2) micro HDMI 2.0 WIFI AP...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

As for how big it is, we've only had a few reports in, and since the particular combinations are unusual, it's not huge. 2560x1440 reduced blanking appears to be the culprit mode, combine that with a low quality cable and 2.4Ggig wireless and you *might* see a problem. I had it with TV-Hat and 1920...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

"Yes, there can be interference, just use high quality cables" is what we have always said, I believe. Maybe not in those exact words, but certainly that is what we advise. I did some testing on this, and could not replicate any issues, because I never hit the exact combination that can cause probl...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

The problem seems to be very very specific. You need to be using specific HDMI modes, specific Wifi channels and using bad cables. We are still looking in to mitigation to cope with these bad cables. Not easy though. Sorting out RF interference is a difficult thing, way out of my knowledge base. Mi...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

Also came to the conclusion that the HDMI cable/interference is the cause here.

Changed the cable, and it solved my problems. It the meantime I also tweaked some minor things, but I don't see the problem anymore after choosing a lower channel number.

Consider using KODI.
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... p?t=251645

I'm quite happy with the recordings made with KODI//TV-Headend.

AFAICS Kodi is also the only player automatically switching refresh-rate/resolution for different content.

Re: RaspberryPi 4 No output on 4K LG TV (WebOS)

Check this:

- Do you use a 2.0 HDMI cable?
- Check your LG for something like a ULTRA DEEP HD COLOR setting. It should be switched on for 4K60p, at least on my LG.
- Does the LG work with 4K30p?
- Does the LG work with 4K60p on another computer?

Probably related issue:

Did help when i choose higher WIFI channels.

Do you see differences choosing higher 2.4Ghz WIFI channels?

Dim green led of TV-HAT

The green LED of the TV-HAT is very bright, is it possible to dim the led, or even turn it off software wise.

It also stays on, even if the RPI is shutdown, annoying the cat at night.
