Re: RPi 4 has stopped booting, red light constantly on

I suffered the same fate, I tried to reboot from the shutdown menu and it hung after closing all the running programs, and just left the wallpaper displayed. After 5 minutes or so, I pulled out the power lead and reinserted it. Nothing happened, other than a red light came on and stayed on. Tested t...

(Solved) Re: Missing Cursors in Buster on RPi4

I appear to have fixed it by using the Original non-GL desktop driver, I have all the cursors I need and the screen redraws faster than a ZX81 once again.

Re: RasPi 4 is on RDP slower than the RasPi 3

I use rdesktop and I agree the RPi4 is painful to watch as it redraws the screen line by slow line. It definitely runs much faster using the Legacy driver. By 'runs' I mean the screen updates faster than the zx81 speed I've been struggling with all week. It also cured my lack of cursors, I now have ...

Re: Missing Cursors in Buster on RPi4

So now I have installed libreoffice and find that in writer, I also have no cursor, no indication of where the next keystroke is going to land. Is there a package of cursors that I need to install? By cursor I mean the flashing vertical line where the next character typed is going to be, it is missi...

(Solved) Missing Cursors in Buster on RPi4

I use my pi as a thin client among other things, and since I started using the pi4, I have missing characters and no blinking cursor in putty on the remote PC using rdesktop. Things that I can regain by switching back to the pi3 and stretch. I'm not sure why odd characters are not showing in putty, ...

Re: What causes this?

I found a cure, just add

Code: Select all

* * * * * /usr/bin/touch /mnt/win/pi
to your crontab, and no more log spamming occurs.
It creates/recreates a 0 byte file on the windows share every minute and prevents the timeout.

I've tried 3 different sdcards and they all work the same.
I will re-download the image if the sha256sum I posted above is wrong.
But it will have to wait until this evening.

Re: Brand spanking new 2018-11-13-raspbian-stretch-full.img

I can't imagine what could be causing it, nothing else is connecting to it, it is not intarweb facing, I have a 40" tv, a keyboard, mouse and powered hub. I have done it twice now, and I'm sure I documented it correctly, insomuch as I didn't miss anything out or do it in a different order to that wh...

I'll take your word for it, but it was brand new, logged into once, and I had had no other interactions with it when I changed the position of the taskbar. Some settings box came up at the same time and I clicked on whatever it wanted, then it rebooted the machine and the taskbar had reverted to the...

Brand spanking new 2018-11-13-raspbian-stretch-full.img

I have installed the latest Raspbian to a new sdcard, it boots and leads me through a series of nanny setups and then reboots. All is good. I right click on the desktop and using the context menu, move my taskbar to the bottom of the screen where sane people usually have it. All works well. I reboot...

Re: Discouraged

You're right of course, but I keep expecting these 'upgrades' to get better with time, and I'll not know when they get it right if I don't suffer a trashed system every now and then. It seems to be that if you are pi and are using the OS with default settings, you can survive an 'update', but if you...

I apt-got upgraded today and it broke everything, Xorg runs but uses 100% cpu and the entire screen is redrawn 1 pixel at a time and manages about 3 pixels a second. Totally unusable anyway. I've tried again on a different image and I am at the point where I have to reboot to see if it worked this t...

Re: webserver clustering

I shall certainly bear it in mind once I get the case resprayed. The multitude of Pi also gives me redundancy, as 3 can die and I'm still serving pages. Obviously this just moves the single point of failure upstream from the Pi, but it's been an interesting project, and there's far more flashing led...

You need to be a little more specific.
If I posted a photo of a $100 bill and asked how to make more of them I would probably be underwhelmed with replies.
What are you trying to do, other than have to login to a realm repeatedly?

I have 4 raspberry pi2 and and orange pi R1 as a load balancer all running apache2. This is powered by a 10 amp 5 volt psu.
