Re: Overclocking

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Betron-Adapter-Charger-iPhone-Samsung/dp/B0100EYJES/ I've had good success with those It's a good device and I have them for my children and all their various gadgets, but no single supply is 3.5amp, the max is 2.4amp from any usb slot. If you just want a solo 3.5 amp then m...

Re: Overclocking

The Kodi pi is running the nightly Milhouse builds, force_turbo=1 and avoid_warnings=2. It's using a 3.5amp psu too. It could be that your psu isn't up to it - if the voltage drops then the pi will throttle the cpu and this could be killing your performance. Similarly the heat on your pi3 could als...

Re: Overclocking

I'm amazed you've been able to play x265 with such a modest overclock. Mine won't touch it. It could be that one is throttling back heavily and the other one isn't. x265 is very CPU intensive, especially at high resolutions. Sure, that's why I'm interested to know what build and is there a heatsink...

Re: Overclocking

I've got two RPi3s One is running the milhouse kodi builds. I haven't pushed the arm freq on this one yet. This will play 1080p x265 videos without a hitch, however if i loop high action scenes it will eventually hit 80degs and start to throttle. playback remains good until arm speed drops below ar...

Re: Overclocking

Slightly disappointed in the speed in truth. Could be Kodi 15 though... Or it's possible that it's starting to throttle back already. That would make performance a little lumpy. As several Pi3B have already been seen to throttle back at standard clock speeds under fairly modest loads, I'd be inclin...

Re: Overclocking

What are other people's settings and progress with the Pi3?? I read a blog yesterday where one guy had a Pi3B up to 1.5GHz. He admitted to not having run any stress tests though, so the figure is totally meaningless as far as I'm concerned. Big numbers ain't worth a fart in a hurricane unless a per...

Re: Overclocking

Is this thread ok to talk Overclocking of a Pi or should I start a new thread? Cheers again, much appreciated. Of course - it is the "Overclocking" thread... it's just not the "OpenELEC problem" thread. I missed the 'Pi3' bit, but I see it's just 'overclocking' and not Pi2 overclocking. I'm running...

Re: Overclocking

Millhouse, two questions. I ran the code to install memtester and then run memtester 850 10, but it said -sh memtester cant be found. Now I shit kodi down as you showed me, but I didn't set the gpu to 64 as it was already set higher, is that the problem do you think? (I'll obvs try, just thought I'...

Re: Overclocking

@TheEgo: Don't be afraid to go a little higher with those RAM voltages if you need to. You may never make it to 600MHz, but I believe that millhouse needs 5/3/3 to get there with complete stability, whereas I have to go to 6/4/4 for complete stability at 600MHz. You won't fry anything by trying. :)...

Thanks again. I learn something new everyday. I do pay it back elsewhere, helping others who know far less than even me  :D I will use your settings and keep the sdram settings in then. Won't hurt I guess. I've always avoided the codes as everything I've ever tried to play has done so.What I ...

Re: Overclocking

Thanks again Millhouse. Lucky you already getting to mess with the Pi3. I guess smart innovators like yourself need to get them first. Good to know your builds will be fine. I figured as much when I saw the latest openelec 6.0.2 works for both. When you say with the right software (Re HEVEC) do you ...

Re: The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Q&A thread

I guess the Pi 3 should be able to decode 1080p30 MPEG-2 or VC-1 in software, so codec licenses aren't really needed anymore? 1080p MPEG-2 can be decoded in software. Currently you don't get the high quality deinterlace without hardware decode, but that should be solvable. Unfortunately the VC-1 de...

I guess the Pi 3 should be able to decode 1080p30 MPEG-2 or VC-1 in software, so codec licenses aren't really needed anymore? I never fully understood the Codecs if I'm honest. I've never purchased one, but I've never been unable to play any file (with the exception to the newer x265, but this is u...

Does anyone know if there is a graphics upgrade and support for HEVEC x265 playback as this article suggests there is?

Re: Overclocking

I've looked at the security of the folder in contrast to the .ssh folder on a system that works and both have nothing in the folder (which is normal right?) the difference is in the permissions. The faulty one has 3 parties with full control (two are a list of numbers and letter and the third 'ever...

What would happen if I deleted the folder entirely? Would it generate again after a reboot? I'll give it a go as I've kept a copy. Yep, regenerated and still can't access. Re: Overclocking

chmod 700 .ssh chmod 644 .ssh/* chmod 600 .ssh/id_dsa .ssh/id_rsa .ssh/id_ecdsa The last line sets the permission on your private key files - you may not have any of these files. The most likely problem is the permission on the .ssh folder itself - too "open" (accessible to other users/groups) and ...

Any idea why my ssh access may be restricted? (it won't let me connect, as per previous post) Could it be the SSD and permissions? It's the only thing I can think of.
