Re: Camera - Always On?

If you specify a really high value for -t you should be able to get the preview window to run for a long time (a number of days). This post by jamesh suggests that there will be a future update which will allow the true ability to run 'forever'.

Re: RAW output information

You can change the JPEG quality you know...set it to 100, see if that improves things. I think people are going to find out the long way how hard it is to make good images from the very RAW data coming out of the camera. Remember, some top notch experts did the camera tuning on the Raspi (although ...

Re: Focal length and HFOV

I don't think we currently know the precise focal length of the unit, but fastmapper estimated it at 3.6mm.
Crop factor should be ~9.44 (for a sensor size of 3.674 x 2.738mm, from the product specifications).

Good luck.

edit: improved focal length link

Re: RAW output information

Remember that the incoming data has gone through many stages of processing to get to JPG from the original RAW data - lens shading, black level correction, debayering, denoise, sharpening, defective pixel correction, colour correction to list just a few. They are all there for a reason. You do lose...

Re: RAW output information

A bit more progress. Great stuff so far. The higher fidelity of output is another good sign and I'm really looking forward to getting a file format which can be imported into image editing software (such as Lightroom) for non-destructive editing of the raw files. Then maybe if we can get manual exp...

Re: Grainy images

Thanks for the quick reply and the sample video. In this case, although it's obviously very sunny outside, the tree in the foreground is actually very dark, in comparison to most of the rest of the scene. What you've actually got there is one of the most difficult things for any digital camera senso...

Re: raspistill and raspivid command line switches

Yes, -? and -n are already fixed, and I've also added an -op option to set opacity of the preview. Also fixed the image being hflipped by default, the capture resolution being scaled up 1080p rather than full res, and also put in some protections when you run out of storage space so app stops runni...

Re: Grainy images

I have noticed that my module has grain (specs that seem to be constantly moving). Does anyone else have this issue? I have a test.h264 clip, but not sure how to upload to show you. A sample clip would really be a good start at diagnosing this issue. It would be good if you could upload it to a clo...

Re: raspistill and raspivid command line switches

Hi James, Just wondering if it is just me or is the "-n" nopreview option not working? Not a massive issue, and sorry if it is just my own typo. There appears to be an issue with disabling previews for some users (myself included). However, it appears like a fix is in the works and a general update...

Enhancement: Implement Unit Aliases (e.g. Minute/Hour)

I couldn't find this suggested anywhere, but if it's a duplicate please ignore. Also, posting here rather than as an enhancement suggestion on the GitHub userland tracker just to see if there's any demand. At the moment time values are specified in milliseconds only. For 'trivial' usage (e.g. saving...

Graceful Handling Of Full Destination For Camera Application

Hi, all. Not sure this is the correct place, but since other people have posted software issues in this sub-forum here goes. I got my camera module yesterday and I've been playing about a little bit with it so far. Today I used the timelapse switch to try and record the sunset, but I accidentally le...

Re: SD Card type

Is it possible use a SD card of class 8 or 10 and more capacity? Yes. There is a list of working SD cards maintained in the Wiki. If you do decide to buy a larger SD card and you use one of the SD card images from the downloads page you will need to modify your SD card configuration to 'see' the ex...
