Re: Mentoring kids - Sanibox

Helping in the learning of python is precisely the reason Saniabox was created. But it is not the dull way of learning. You will find many interactive way controlling hardware and sensors while learning.

If you already know python a bit, you can quickly jump to the next level.

Re: Mentoring kids - Sanibox

The Raspberry Pi 4 is faster than the Pi 3 but possibly still slow for doing animation. Probably the Nvidia's Jetson platorm better suited for that kind of exercise. Saniabox and Pi 4 combo is more of learning platform ( coding or hardware).

Re: Mentoring kids - Sanibox

Good Point rin67630. Some of the hardware in the Saniabox are really interesting - the Proximity sensor is one of them. Also the A/D Converter using MCP3002 ( though, agreed that things like these do exist). I do think that there are many things to learn, especially on the hardware side using Saniab...

Re: Mentoring kids - Sanibox

We should have example programs coming up for all the sensors in the board. The Proximity sensor looks fascinating.

Will add more details sometimes later.

Re: Mentoring kids - Sanibox

Yes the add on board will work with existing Raspberry Pi 3 or earlier versions as well, since all use the same 40 Pin Connector. The more recent Raspberry Pi 4, however, is much faster and working with Pi 4 makes it much smoother.

Mentoring kids - Sanibox

While I had launched some Raspberry Pi projects add on boards earlier ( one of them has been featured in Raspberry Pi Magazine) , I started mentoring kids recently. One of my student Sania recently launched her project Sania Box on kikstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/moonshotjr/sania-box...

Re: Send Hex Data Serial Port

I have done a live demonstration of the whole process in my youtube - this one is for Widows machine but should apply for Linux and Raspberry Pi as well. The COM5 will get replaced with /dev/ttyUSB0 etc. Check this

Raspberry Pi Zero 3 Port USB Hub - No connector

I still have a lot of inventory of HubPiWi Blue - It can be used as a three port USB Hub ( The fourth port can be left unused as the newer Pi Zero comes with in built WIfi BT). All this for $5 https://ksr-ugc.imgix.net/assets/013/397/434/7350e6e06903d9c11ab5812c430d8bc7_original.png?w=680&fit=max&v=...

The Arduinopixed shipping has started. The US customers can now order and expect it shipped in a day http://referencedesigner.com/blog/pre-o ... ixed/6877/

Those outside USA will have to wait two more weeks for shipment.

Re: Hub for Pi Zero with Pogo Pins on sale for $5

My two hubs finally arrived on Friday last week and both work fine with driver from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723bu , thanks digger72. Compiling wifi/bt driver directly on the pi zero takes more than half an hour, though. And getting raspberrypi-kernel-headers took some time too. And I had to...

I could not find any current information on your site - is there current support in Raspbian for the HubWiPi Blue or do you still have to download and install support? Thank you. Frankly with the launch of the Raspberry Pi Zero the Wifi and Bluetooth support provided by HubPiWi Blue has become redu...

Re: Using USB instead of GPIO

Check my arduinopixed project - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/17 ... or-pi-zero

The ArduinoPixed has a 4 Port USB hub and the 4th Port connects to ATMEGA328. You then have GPIOs and A/D off ATMEGA328. Control the GPIO through USB. Works on Pi Zero.

IIRC, the ATMEGA328 does not have USB, so perhaps the TxD/RxD pair and single line connections are reversed in the diagram. BTW, very nice device you've designed. Hi Paul, Good point. Fixed couple of more issues in the Block Diagram. Here is updated block diagram. https://image.ibb.co/iczrUR/Block_...

Looks interesting. A couple of questions: 1) Do we buy it directly from you or from the web site? (Or are they one and the same?) 2) It looks like it is actually $9 for the first one - $6 for additionals. Are there any other hidden fees? (taxes, licenses, etc) Answers - 1.You can buy from the websi...

Can this be used for iot cloud data upload ? Say, I want to capture A/D from Arduino and then the I want to upload it to cloud ? In theory directly accessing the Analog Pins of the Arduino will require some sort of protocol with message exchange capability. It is all in software domain. The PyFirma...

Hub for Pi Zero with Pogo Pins on sale for $5

This sale is for HubPiWi Blue - a 3 Port USB hub plus Integrated Wifi and Bluetooth. With the launch of the Pi Zero W, the Wifi and BT functions have become redundant, but I am left with an inventory of about 150 or so. For $5 you get a nice 3 Port USB hub that connects only using 4 provided screws....
