Ragworm PCB - Is it still trading

Hi all, I have historically used Ragworm for the odd one-off PCB manufacture. However, the last board took an age to arrive and since then they don't see to be answering the phone. Does anyone know if they are still trading? I hope they are, since they seemed like a nice company!! Does anyone know a...

So how did you restrict access between your LANs and would you be able to post examples of your cron jobs?

Thanks in advance

Pi Access Point - only allow internet connection

Hi all, I have setup a wifi access point using my Pi, using this guide: https://learn.adafruit.com/setting-up-a-raspberry-pi-as-a-wifi-access-point/install-software and all is working well. I have a normal LAN using the subnet of 192.168.12.X and the Pi's wifi on another subnet of 192.168.42.X. Howe...

Re: Raspberry-Wifi-Router project

Hi there @ronnyvdbr I really love this concept and it worked as advertised straight out of the box. I have been looking for a system like this, which will allow me to use a RPi as a smart router for the following scenario: - My main router distributes wifi and ethernet to members of the household on...

Re: [SOLVED] Pikeyd on Kodi

Hi All,

I thought I would report back, that I have managed to fix this problem by switching to OSMC.

Have a look here: http://piandbash.co.uk/2015/03/pibash_-with-kodi-osmc/

[SOLVED] Pikeyd on Kodi

Hi all, I am playing around with a Pi&Bash>_ and trying to get it to work with Kodi as a VFD. So far, I have got the LCD to work using this tutorial: http://www.sknorrell.de/blog/lcd-display-hd44780-20x4-under-openelec-and-xbmc-at-the-raspberry-pi/ However, I am keen to get the push buttons on the P...

How to host a phpbb forum?

Hi there, I am thinking of setting up a phpbb forum, but wanted to have a play with phpbb first, to configure the forum, etc, before copying it to a paid-for web hosting site. I have seen various examples, where people have managed to get phpbb working on a RPi, but can not find any step-by-step gui...

Looking at the administrators activity, none of them have been online since Thursday morning, so clearly the ...

Help with Ciseco XRF and Slice of Radio

I have recently bought some Ciseco RF kit, with the aim to making some sort of autonomous robot which is remotely commanded from my Raspberry Pi. I am pretty new to programming on the Pi, so this is going to be an audacious task, but have made a couple of successful applications using the Slice of P...

Re: Slice of Pi/o Address Problem

Well, I am not clever enough to get the Slice of Radio working yet anyway (which could be me, or it could be a broken Pi, who knows) I have tried wiring up the chip from the Slice of Pi/o using this guide: http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2013/0 ... pi-part-1/ and I have exactly the same probl...

Re: Slice of Pi/o Address Problem

Also,

Since I have a slice of Radio (which I am yet to play with), I presume that if I can get this to work (which also uses the SDA/SDL pins on the GPIO header), then this will prove that the Pi is working fine, thus pin the problem down to the Slice of Pi/o.

Does this make sense?

Re: Slice of Pi/o Address Problem

Hi Dougie, I have checked the Slice of Pi/o board both visually, and also with a multimeter. I have checked that there is no ground or 5v leakage to the SCL or SCA lines, but found no problems. I have tried to start with a new SD Card image, but this has not resolved the problem. Is there any way th...

Re: Slice of Pi/o Address Problem

Thanks Dougie, I will have a check. I did do an initial look and all seemed fine, but I will give it a closer inspection later (the slice of Pi/o is at the kids house at the moment, so I won't get it back until tuesday, so will look then). When you say "points towards the SDA and SCL having the wron...

Slice of Pi/o Address Problem

Hi all, I have been successfully using a Slice of Pi/o for a while now, in fact I have made quite a useful device with it: http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=42374. However, I am having problems with a difference Slice of Pi/o and Pi, which I was hoping someone might be able to help ...

Error Logging - Help

I have just finished writing some code in Python which is designed to run on my RPi without a monitor connected. I expect to need to keep the RPi running this script for upto 60 days. When I run it via SSH, everything works fine, but now that I have set the code to run at boot-up, I have discovered ...

Re: Using Slice of Pi/o and 16x2 LCD at the same time?

Right, I found a fix.

I re-run the initialisation script whenever the temperaure up button is pressed. this makes the screen flash slighly when increasing the target temperature, but enables me to easily re-set the display if it goes crazy.

Not elegant, but good enough for me!

Re: Using Slice of Pi/o and 16x2 LCD at the same time?

The Pi keeps running and still reports the right information via the print command in my ssh terminal, but ...

Re: Using Slice of Pi/o and 16x2 LCD at the same time?

Well, I thought it best to reply back to let everyone know that it worked! I had already written the code for the LCD into my script before getting the LCD, and so wired it up and ran the code as soon as I could today. It worked first time, no need to debug, nothing! I am really delighted! Anyway, j...

Of course, assuming my musings above are correct, you all aready knew all of that stuff. But hopefully it will be useful to someone else who is thinking of getting a 16x2 display to work. The problem is (for someone like me with a little bit of knowledge), is that a lot of online guides are either v...

Re: Using Slice of Pi/o and 16x2 LCD at the same time?

Awesome reply Douglas6, thanks. I suppose the thing that has confused me (now that I understand things better), is that the GPIOs are simply digital outputs, and they seem to be doing something magical when connected to the LCD in order to write words on the screen (I thought they might be connected...
