Re: Raspberry Piomega minimax

pi 3 is going well .. We're working on a little robotics project with it , and fiddling with a few more things too !! unfortunately the younger homonculus got his hands on the original Pi and busted it up ( while pulling everything out of the robotics project box ) may just have to buy another !!

Re: Raspberry Piomega minimax

So he stopped using the Pi for the last couple of years . But this last week or so he's been doing a little Python Programming online , so he says " Dad , where the raspberry Pi ? " I've set it up again plugged into a 24" monitor ( the monitor has USB on it , so can power the Pi and act as a small h...

Re: USB - the Elephant in our Room

@ wallacebiy - try a powered hub? Dunno what post of mine you're referring to . I am using an iomega minimax HD with powered hub built in though mostly . I think perhaps I was discussing using the wifi dongle direct in the Pi ? which is what I would do in a media centre type setup ? Haven't played ...

Re: Why not program on x86 desktop?

In my humble opinion, I think the dispute is equal to the question: 'Why would I buy a bicycle, when my family has a Fiesta?'. There could be many answers to that question, a few could be: - Maybe you or the car are not qualified to drive in a safe way - if you intend to drive offroad. - If you are...

Re: USB - the Elephant in our Room

Just going to chip in here with my own experience , however much worth it'll add to it . Got the Pi on Friday , and hooked it up, as I intended, to an Iomega Minimax closure that I have lying around , ( I'd swapped out the 3.5" drive for a 2.5" one as the former was kaput , the latter was redundant ...

Re: Automatic setup for RTL8188CUS based wifi adapters

OK When I was taking him to bed he asked could I have one more go at fixing it so I swapped the single to a port on the powered hub ( iomega minimax HD) It worked. Anyway. He spent the next hour surreptitiously playing with Scratch .... Many thanks again. I'm going to have to read through that scrip...

Sorry for my truncated post earlier , system instability went to the max and froze nearly completely . Hi I've got a TP-Link Model TL-WN723N Ver 2.2 , it reports as RTL8188CUS on the Bus , I've run the script and it says it completes , however the script just hangs the terminal window on completion ( I suspected it's wicd interfering so I've uninstalled that fully ) iwconfig gives me the following lo...

Re: Punnet - a print at home cardboard case

Just a word of advice to people about inkjet printers ( which most people would be using ) Scaling on an inkjet is not 100% reliable and can vary by up to 2mm on A3 in the length from the width of the page. So if anyone is experience slight mismatches , don't blame the pdf , have a check of the prin...

Re: Why not program on x86 desktop?

I seriously cannot understand the argument here . The Pi is a cheap , fully functional linux PC , with the innards exposed . there is no more argument than that. it is what it is . All the other things it can/cannot do are secondary to that . It's a cheap, fully functional, linux PC . That's the who...

Re: Internet via ethernet into Mac

Sharing your Mac Internet connection could not be easier. You don't need a crossover cable, your Mac will auto-negotiate with a regular patch cable. Go to System Preferences, select Sharing, select Internet Sharing from the service list, put a check mark next to Ethernet in the port list, and make ...

Re: Internet via ethernet into Mac

firstly , if you want to do this you'll have to get an ethernet crossover cable ( both ethernet ports , on the mac/winbox and on the pi will be wired the same ,so communication isn't possible with a normal cable on a router the port is wired backwards ) You can make one , by crossing the pairs and t...

Why ?

Adding tapatalk would have no impact on users who don't use it .
