Re: Network problems and hangs... losing faith... (solved)

I'm having related problem. I have two 2tb drives plugged into raspberry. Both drives are self powered and attached directly to raspberry. Under heavy concurrent disk load I get this in log every few minutes: usb 1-1.3: reset high-speed USB device number 4 using dwc_otg and then after about 10 of th...

Re: setting to stabilize the official image

Setting vm.min_free_kbytes to 16384 in /etc/sysctl.conf made my pi more stable under load.

Re: Smart Thermostat

Hairlocks, have you had any success with DHT11 sensor?
I've tried the kernel patch for Dallas 1-wire interface (http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=86172) but the device isn't getting detected... some say that they are not 1-wire really, but have some own sort of protocol..

Re: USB HD and Samba performance

Pianist, try testing ethernet, hdd and samba performance separately to find the true cause.
download/upload file via ssh/ftp to a sd card, test samba from sd card, run hdparm to test drive speed.

Re: USB HD and Samba performance

Thanks @dom.
Updated firmware as you suggested and all the packages.

Now the stability seems to have improved. Transferred 5 gigs back and forth with no problems now.
At first I suspected that the problem was caused by the lack of power, as my rasp is currently draining power from monitors usb port.

Re: R-Pi Performance

to me it looks like the memory is a big bottleneck here.
62/55 MB/sec read/write from the test is real bad.
(i hope its doesn't work over USB too lol :)
