Re: Interfacing with the world Project

<t>I have mentioned this in another Forum, But the Android IOIO board should be very adaptable to RasPi.  It is spendy at $50 US but includes just about every I/F you can think of (A/D, SPI, PWM, IC2, lots of GPIO). Or someone may want to come up with something similar it uses a PIC processor and is...

Re: Car / Motorcycle - Monitoring and Statistics

Although designed for Android, The IOIO (pronounced yoyo) should be adaptable, is very low power, has a/d, pwm, SPI, Ic2, and more.  It's spendy at $50 US, but Oh what it can do for real-word access!

Re: RaspberryPi + GPS

<t>DealExtreme has both GPS modules and Simple serial-Bluetooth modules. The BT module I have just ordered is set up for Arduino connectivity with 4 pin header it works on 3 volts, The GPS module (SirfStar III) module that I purchased has a little cable that is also 3 volt serial.  Note the GPS modu...

Re: RaspberryPi Portable as RaspberryPi Model C???

<t>Personally, the original model that was posted on Hack A Day and others was what appealed to me for projects that I had in mind. Even smaller than a business card and camera interface readily available.  I thought cost effective distributed processing in an automobile environment.  Maybe adapted ...

Obviously I posted prior to searching the topic. My apologies. The information in the forum adequately answered my questions.

Re: Camera on RaspberryPi

Will the camera shown in the initial news release be available? What model of RasPi will support it? That was the very thing that attracted me(other than the price). I have a project that needs three cameras to collect data and stream them to another device.

Re: Break out board (GPIO, SPI, I2C, and UART)

SparkFun has a product that adds IO to Android phones/tablets that looks like it could also be used here. I think it's called xio-xio pronounced yo-yo.

Re: Wishes for 2nd gen Raspberry Pi

Now there you go! For those that want a feature rich, high performance package, that BCM11311 would be an ideal "Big Brother" to the Pi, for developers that want more than a software learning tool.

Re: car pc

<t>I agree that a motor vehicle is a harsh environment for electronics, but electronics itself comes to the rescue. Devices such as TransMovs or even cross connected zeners with snubbing components can gentle, if not tame that environment. I am more concerned about data corruption between multiple R...

Re: car pc

<t>The Pi appears to have enough power for a distributed processing setup to monitor car functions and adjust parameters for better fuel economy. So engine monitoring as well as the other functions mentioned, like front facing DVR, Backup camera, audio/video features, rear and side mirror replacemen...
