Re: dnsmasq DNS help!

I think I may have confused some people, because earlier, I did not understand dnsmasq and I thought that you could create a dns server or allow public access to it.

Re: how to autorun a command

This is probably the most asked question on this forum. ( I really wish someone would make a good "sticky" post on it ) And the answer depends a lot of what kind of program you want to run. In your case it might be enough to add: raspivid -t 0 & to the file "/etc/rc.local". Warning!!: You will (pro...

Yes I know, but I would like to know how the DNS servers work, and see if I can get one running myself.
It might be a cool project.

Re: No space for new files

Sorry for this late response, I just came over this post again lol.
If your here, you can kill processes with:

Code: Select all

top
to see processes(get the pid of it).
Then do:

Code: Select all

kill <pid>
to stop the process.
You can also stop them by:

Code: Select all

killall <name>
for example:

Code: Select all

killall java

Re: Multiple Projects for Beginner

Hello, a few good starting projects for a raspberry pi are: 1. A basic robot(surprisingly not that hard to do). 2. An IR security camera that connects to your network. 3. Make an apache webserver. 4. Create a temperature logging system for your fridge/outside. 5. Make ambient lighting with LED strip...

If you mean a screensaver, you can try xscreensaver, a nifty tool that lets you customize it:

sudo apt-get install xscreensaver

Re: Raspberry boards based on x86 SOC

You can use QEMU to emulate windows(although quite slow). I have tried this before, and with trial and error I got windows xp to work(I even ran some .exe programs :) ). Here is another post I found with something you might want to look at: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=117...

A few days ago, I was trying to get a DNS server for my website, but I realized that I had two options. Either I had to pay a company to do it, or I could do it for free, but it would look something like this: https://free.hosting.mysite.freehosting/ Is their any possible way I could actually make a...
