Re: Invitation to order from RS

So I just got a knock on the door from ParcelFarce to finally deliver my RPi which was despatched on the 6th!! So much for an "express24" delivery... The one I ordered from Farnell took 2 days to arrive using 2nd class post, lol. Looking at the tracking, it arrived in my local hub (inverness) on the...

Re: Invitation to order from RS

Just got my ParcelForce email last night saying my Pi is on its way. My order was placed on 18th May. Hopefully be here today or probably tomorrow (as I'm north scotland!) Fingers crossed its not an empty box & at least I already have my Pi from Farnell for a few weeks now. :) Mine arrived today; o...

Re: looking for in-kind donation of a public server

Sure they say unlimited in their advertising but lets look at what the terms and conditions actually say Customer agrees that bandwidth and disk usage shall be used on a fair use policy base. Sites that consume very high badwidth or diskspace resources on a regular basis period will be disabled and...

Re: looking for in-kind donation of a public server

I would suggest servage.net if you have a few spare pounds per month... I currently host with them as they have unlimited diskspace & unlimited bandwidth - and if you pay for 1 year, you get 14months hosting. Not a dedicated server with full root access, but lots of diskspace & bandwidth plus you ca...

Re: 'Debug'? colored screen on start, no boot

You've overclocked the frequency of your Pi to 900mhz if I read your config.txt correctly.

I'm surprised it boots at all :)

Post your Working Hardware/Software setups

I thought it might be useful to create a thread so that people can post their current working hardware/software setups, so that others can see what works together! Hopefully this is in the correct forum. I think it is as its a good starting place for people who might be having issues with their curr...

Re: Power Supply - 4 x 5v

Hi, I did some more research then some more, then some more then found this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150752786119&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160 looks like it will provide 4 x 5v connectors so I have got one to try, this could be good idea for people that require that lit...

Re: Dead Pi [From Farnell]

Hi - Had exactly the same problem but I've fixed it. I was using a USB SD card adapter to work with the image, that failed but when I used the SD card port on my laptop it worked first time. Hope that saves some frustration! I was using the SD reader in my printer and it was incredibly slow and now...

Re: Dead Pi [From Farnell]

It's Alive!!!! As Farnell hadn't contacted me yet to arrange pickup, I decided to unbox and plug it all in again one last time to see if anything had changed since yesterday, and to my delight, It actually booted up! I'm using the same phone charger and cables & SD card & HDMI cable I started with y...

Re: Dead Pi [From Farnell]

As a sanity check, can you plug the sdcard into a windows/linux/mac machine. You should be able to see the FAT partition, and it should contain start.elf, kernel.img etc. Yep I did that and could see the card contents. :) Out of curiosity, is there be anything displayed over HDMI if there is just p...

Dead Pi [From Farnell]

Received my RPi from Farnell on saturday and finally found some time to fire it up today and have a play. I must admit I haven't been as excited as I was when I 1st got my ZX Spectrum many years ago, followed by an Atari ST & Amiga 500+1200. After heading down to Tesco to buy a couple of SD cards an...

Re: Farnell's Delivery Means ... FYI

Mine arrived this morning from Farnell and I have to say I was very excited! Although have been out all day enjoying the sun skills not had a chance to power up and see if it works. One thing I didn't like though was the very crappy packaging. Flimsy cardboard box in a very thin jiffy envelope. Hope...
