Re: Imperial Pi Fighter

All those replies, I'm tempted to try building a cheese case. I keep eyeing up my Son's Tie Fighter, but he's reluctant to let me at it with a Dremel, lol.

Re: new and cheap case

Ha. nice. Truly Blue Peter style, although can't see where you put the sticky back plastic? (and I hope you have another one for "the one you prepared earlier". ;-)

Re: Milliput and credit cards...

t. Ideally, in my opinion, the pcb could have done with being a fraction wider with no electronics on it to give it space for a bit more purchase :D Yes, agreed - there is just a little bit too little tolerance when trying to make things fit without being too close to some of the components. I'd ha...

Yep, that's my thinking. Although I do have two pi's (my wife bought one and I got one) so I do have a backup - unless she notices the swap ;-0

Re: crash

Just to clarify this. I've only heard of ONE other machine that was sent back/replaced by RS. I still think it's likely to be a power problem of some description so voltage levels with different equipment attached would help settle it. That'll be mine, then? I had a faulty one with same symptoms. T...

Thought I'd add my own case design - built from a prototyping case coupled to a Star Wars Tie Fighter Plastic Model Kit - Darth Vaders Pi Fighter ;-) completed DSCF5183.JPG rear view DSCF5186.JPG Wiring a bit tight, but fits - may look at 90degree hdmi lead/converter DSCF5189.JPG Net result - Two Ha...

Re: Ethernet port turned off after few minutes

Farnell are being really massively helpful with returns in my experience. I had to return my unit, got my new one, and it works flawlessly so far. I really can't thank Farnell enough for listening and responding very efficiently. Thank you specifically to Adam in the returns department for keeping m...

Re: Pi shuts down soon after powering up at random points

I am having similar problems - looks like it may be power related, as the more devices I unplug, the longer the pi will stay up for. With just network and power, I can ping the device for about 2 or 3 mins, then ethernet lights just go out, and pi refuses any connections, and just shows red led. Sa...

Fantastic Start Guys, that is just the sort of level for educational use. I'd personally love to see this on the news-stands in glossy format to subscribe to. My kids would pick it up and read it, but they haven't got into the whole online reading thing (yet)

Re: Ethernet port turned off after few minutes

Similar results here. Same spec card, but 8G and 4G versions tried, 700mA Samsung adapter and 1000mAh "generic" adapter, but either of these get similar results - unit powers up, can startx and maybe even load a program, but after a couple of minutes, ethernet lights go out, unable to ping...
