Re: [Project Log] Handheld emulation system

Oh I have one of those and had the same idea. The format is quite ideal.
Did you make any progress on it?

Re: openelec on raspbian ??

Any particular reason you prefer using openElec's version ?
You can use XBMC directly on Raspbian.
You'll find instruction to build it yourself or precompiled binaries there :

Did you do the apt-get install part ?
You are certainly missing the libgcrypt-dev package.
Try : apt-get install libgcrypt11-dev

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

Hi robotfunk,

I went through this step successfully, the only difference I see from your logs is the automake version.
I have 1.11 on my raspbian while you seem to be running the 1.9.

Give a try to :
apt-get install automake
automake --version
I am getting :
automake (GNU automake) 1.11.5

Re: XBMC on Gentoo - trouble with input devices

Thank you after quite a few hours of fight I finally got xbmc compiled and running.
Strangely I am getting this non working input devices too.
If I quit xbmc (ctrl-c working) I can see my keystrokes in the shell ... I did not have time to figure out what is going on yet.
Thanks.

To answer my own question: libsdl obviously shouldn't be compiled in for the RPi branch of XBMC. Thus, a --disable-libsdl during configure did the trick.
Hi torsti76,
I am quite curious about that, what is your full configure command line ?
Thanks.

Re: packages you want to see in raspbian

Thank you for all your work, I now have a fully working Raspbian which contains nearly everything I need.

Last think I would love is a xbmc package, switching sd cards is such a pain, launching it directly from Raspbian would be wonderful.

Thank you for releasing your work. I decided to give it a try but I am getting some strange compilation errors : [code][email protected]:~/egl/EGL$ make g++ -c -Wall -O3 -I/usr/local/include -I/opt/vc/include -Iinclude/ngl -Isrc/ngl -Isrc/shaders -DNGL_DEBUG EGLgetConfig.cpp -o EGLgetConfig.o g++ -L/opt...

Re: Memory usage

BTW if you are using swap on an sd card you might want to check if your system is setting vm.swappiness nice and low with cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness - swapping on sd card will slow your system down a lot as it is really slow and might reduce the cards lifetime. If it isn't a really low number repo...

Thank you shirro for pointing that out.
I guess I will try to understand deeper those cache and buffers to get how it works.

Memory usage

Hi, I am quite new on Linux and I am trying to understand the high memory usage I always get on my freshly installed Debian on the Raspberry pi.
