And the other thing is that this new solution uses cpu even im not using raspbmc for video at all, it is always running and calculating screenshots... 24/7 (even if i turn on black screensaver to turn off the leds...) You already have a ready made solution in your web app, If you're not using dispm...

Is it possible to turn off the leds when the xbmc gui is active, and use the leds only when a movie is one with this new boblight-dispmanx solution? I like this way at is it now with omxplayer patch cuz My pi is always on since last september, and xbmc is always active. I dont want to see blue ligt...

Also, you don't need boboptions.txt.
That was only required by the modified OMXplayer.
To set options with boblight-dispmanx you pass them when you start it.

Raspbmc currently supports Boblight, but uses an OMXPlayer patch to do so. I'm looking at transitioning to this for ease of maintainability, but I'm wondering if you have any numbers on how it compares to an OMX implementation performance wise. Is it CPU-intensive? No problem. @dom published a new firmware last night that solves the flickering problem when running dispmanx snapshot. My application now works flawlessly (I think). Not sure then, could possibly be something to do with the Arduino, but I have never used one, sorry.
Yeah you can try the plugin, I guess it works although I haven't tried it.

sounds to me more like you have the leds connected to the pi wrong. thats exactly what happened to me and that what it turned out to be in the end. it should be easy enough to determine the ground wire on your led's and then you just have clock and data left and only two ways round. i just would no...
