Re: python - storing and counting variables?

Thanks for the comments guys, a few things for me to think about - it would be perfectly fine for me to add the totals up as I go along and maybe display them in a label constantly in the gui I have already added something similar using a click-counter across the calculate buttons - to keep track of...

Re: Using a check-button to Do-Stuff

cool thanks for this, its a step in the right direction - I had thought about what would happen if both were checked I am starting to think it may be simpler to just perform 'both' Meters and Feet calculations each time, and display both results every time - instead of trying to add this extra featu...

Re: Hardware type in compile

I am having a similar issue - I need to add the platform (PLAT=xxx) into a makefile before running the make command, I went to the software's site and they gave a list of compatible entries for PLAT: aix, ansi, bsd, freebsd, generic, linux, macosx, mingw, posix, solaris so I thought linux would be t...

Re: cx_freeze install error

A follow up to my post....I got cx_freeze to install without errors with: sudo pip install cx_freeze - the sudo allowed the final access that was bringing up my errors...but I also have an even simpler version of the same thing... It is called pyinstaller, you run one simple command and it puts your...

Re: How can I install cx_Freeze?

I used cx_freeze quite a bit, I know so many people that don't use linux systems - and my little programs are basically useless. I got this cx_freeze running, and managed to get some use out of the documentation...basically I got it to convert a .py to a .exe It added a ton of extra files to the ori...

Re: How to connect Speaker to Pi ?

Hi I came across this by accident on another project....This method is very crude though and it is more software than hardware (other than the Pi and a VERY small Speaker)...I used wiringPi to send specific frequencies (written in C) to GPIO Pins...what you get is a Buzzing or oscillating type sound...

Re: Controlling a floppy disk with the GPIO

I have overcome a lot of little niggly things - and thanks to drogon (Gordon at wiringPi) I now know how to use it properly, I also now have the song compiled correctly (have had to learn C basics for this) and overcome some of the little technical problems BUT IT WORKS!!! my floppy drive buzzes awa...

Re: Controlling a floppy disk with the GPIO

And as the Moderator correctly pointed out we are not trying to play mp3's stored on floppies....we want to make the stepper rmotors move at the correct frequencies back and forth in 2 directions and make different tones. One floppy drive can play a song...multiple floppies can play complex stuff >>...

Re: Controlling a floppy disk with the GPIO

There are tons of Floppy music demos - Controlled with JUST Pi's and Arduinos with the right software My problem is the lack of an In Depth guide...floppies are getting on a bit now and most of these have been done on Arduinos. I have been in tough with the writer of wiringPi Gorgon and he's given m...

Tkinter GUI Magic 8 Ball Program (CODE included)

So if you're trying to learn Python like me, you may have searched online for ideas for little programs to get coding. I found a few cool ones, like Bare Python Battleships, and a Magic 8 Ball. There seems to be numerous ways to do this 8 Ball program, some simpler than others. Anyway, I have been s...

in response to 'expandables' relply - just use a regular PC is not the answer and what an idiot for saying so - People like this are so off-putting to someone who wants to learn or solve a problem. Not everyone has a 'Regular PC' to just use as-well as their Pi, and anyway, instead of this easy way ...
