Re: Compute module lite not booting (LED on then off)

I also had a look at the link from Gordon but although I have experience in firmware development, I have practically none when it comes to the RaspPI/CM. Any other way to figure out what it could be? Just enable the UART boot and get the boot log out of the device. Then attach here and we'll be abl...

Re: Is there a way to monitor the CM3 using USB micro?

The CMIO board has a pull down on the OTGID pin, I think this is what I would term a 'bad decision' from my point! R12 is a 1K pull down. I would suggest removing this resistor, the chip has an internal pull up on it... Then leave the OTGID pin unconnected for device (peripheral) mode and ground it ...

Re: Flashing EMMC via RPI zero w stuck waiting for connection

I would guess it's a problem with the USB cable you're using. I've had a bit of trouble with cheap cables made only very slightly of copper! Especially for some reason with the Pi Zero. Can you try on a PC or a Raspberry Pi first? This will tell you if there's a hardware problem at least... Gordon

Re: Compute module lite not booting (LED on then off)

https://github.com/raspberrypi/document ... /bootmodes

Use a serial cable to debug why it is not booting, if the LED is going out this means it is definitely booting bootcode.bin but not getting any further...

Re: Determining via GPIO is the OS has fully shutdown?

gpio_restart and gpio_poweroff are built into the kernel so it should just be a matter of providing the right device tree elements with the right gpio description

What about if you use the rpiboot installer on Windows 10?

Does it have the same effect?

What version of rpiboot are you using? Are you using a Raspberry Pi to program the compute module?

Re: SDX Termination

Termination of the signals is done inside the SD card. We also have pulls on the lines to 3v3 in the pads enabled so you don't need those. Although it has been noticed that some SD cards (specifically industrial quality SD cards) would benefit from an external pull down on CLK to stop it from floati...

Re: Netboot issues with mod 3 B+

It's not clear what you mean here...

The bootcode.bin UART output Stephan has captured shows that it is correctly initialised and sending DHCP requests. I would suggest that your TCP dump is not working correctly.

Re: Netboot issues with mod 3 B+

Yes, as PhilE says above, there is a difference between 'bootcode' and 'bootrom' the boot sequence is: 1) BootROM executes on the chip, enumerates the USB devices and looks for a device matching the LAN9500 USB to Ethernet controller. It broadcasts a DHCP request and then gets a reply that includes ...

Re: Booting CM3 from memory stick

Yes this is possible, but there are a couple of things you need to do, first off you need to set the program_usb_boot_mode=1 bit in the otp (just add to config.txt and boot...) you should be able to do this over the USB device boot, using usbbootgui on a Raspberry Pi or our x86 release. You can just...

Re: What would be the next step up from CM3?

If you want to develop a prototype, the CM3 is the best way to do this. I assume you've already developed and tested your system on a Pi3 and optimised it? If not I'd start there, optimising the software is the best way of getting to the next step. With software improvements, you can usually get far...

Not exactly as it is, but Scriptexecutor is a great example of a use of buildroot. You could use it to create your pre-boot system

Re: Mass deployment on Raspberry Compute Module 3.0

All of the things you suggest are possible, but they will all require you to do a lot of stuff... For example, you can make it always boot into a buildroot image at boot time, then pivot_root into a separate filesystem (i.e. a USB flash drive) Or you could just use a chroot to a secondary filesystem...

Note: program_mac_address is something you add to the config.txt this is then a permanent change (it is written to OTP inside the SOC).

Re: cm3 network boot problem, rpiboot emmc overload problem

the problem is, that the mac address used for the dhcp request of the cm3 is not the one of the lan9512 of the gumstix carrier routed to the rj45. therefore i cannot see it on the net. it seems to be a raspberry mac address? Yes it will be, the bootrom doesn't read the MAC address out of the device...

Re: cm3 network boot problem, rpiboot emmc overload problem

Yep, works fine with a CMIO3 board and the LAN9512, LAN9514 and LAN9515 demonstration boards. Try enabling bootcode UART using: sed -i -e "s/BOOT_UART=0/BOOT_UART=1/" bootcode.bin Using that bootcode.bin as the only file on the eMMC Then connect up a serial cable with 115200 baud 8 bits no parity on...
