Re: motioneye

Motion Eye is doing more. Especially network wise. Its streaming video almost as soon as it boots up, along with displaying the web gui. I know my Pi 3b gets pretty warm almost Hot when left running Motion Eye all day. Running Raspbian and just idling the case is pretty well at room temperature. Its...

Re: motioneye

I'm running Motion Eye on 4 3A+'s and a 3B. All are powered by the official Pi Foundation 5V 2.5A Micro USB power supply. All of the 3A+'s have Pi foundation V2 cameras attached. The 3B has a mini spy camera connected to the CSI. Its equivalent to a V1 Pi foundation camera, spec wise. No power issue...

Re: cover options for Pi 3A+ case

This is what I did, https://1drv.ms/f/s!AjOYwiwlwDtpgtIa6dhTBqnE9W-LcA Pi 3A+, Pibow Coupe case, Camera mounted to the back side of a cut down difusser mounted on long bolts. They all run Motion Eye OS, headless over my WIFI. I can do portrait or landscape just by turning the case on its side. Good ...

Re: When are people in the U.S. getting their Pi 4s?

Timing is everything if you want a specific model like the 4 gig. What time zone you live in can help or hurt you. I'm in Canada and an early riser. I'm usually up at 5 AM and logged on to the internet checking my e-mail. I'm ahead as far as the UK goes and on par with most of the US. I'm on the eas...

Re: When are people in the U.S. getting their Pi 4s?

Its the same old same old, which is good for the Raspberry Pi foundation. Demand exceeds supply. :D
It would suck if it was the other way around. ;)

Re: Pi 4 heat sinks

Thanks for the info, maybe I should have tried flipping it around 180 degrees, it may have fit. It just seemed to be touching the connectors either side which concerned me. Since getting the fan-shim the size of the heatsink is probably less important now, I can keep it in the 40 to 50 degrees-C zo...

Re: When are people in the U.S. getting their Pi 4s?

I am so glad they kept and broke the 35 dollar threshold. Kudos to them for delivering a Pi 4 for that same 35 dollars. And a thumbs up to giving us the option to spend more to get more. I didn't mind spending extra to get extra RAM. :D And from what I'm seeing on the forums I'm not alone in that. ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 temperature

First, let me say that the Pi foundation case, fit and finish is top notch. The Pi fits inside without much fuss. Sides and top attach firmly etc. Its a nice looking case. Thermally, IMHO its not good at all. Granted your Pi isn't going to burn up, but you are almost certainly going to take a big pe...

Re: Pi 4 heat sinks

I believe the SoC heat spreader is a little higher than the surrounding components so you can fit a bigger heat sink. Like this https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/raspberry-pi-4-heatsink I bought one of these, but the fit seemed so tight that I was concerned about trying to wedge it into place and ...

Out of stock again at Pimoroni. Only 1 gig models available. Thats where I snagged mine, I had to do the notify me option and hope the timing was right when I checked my e-mail. I will be ordering another Pi 4, will be a while though before that happens. Months from now most likely.

Re: Pi4 GPIO header disaster

To me it looks like somebody took a heat gun to it? Maybe trying to remove the GPIO header to swap gender or something/ The pin that fell out looks like it's never been properly soldered so did it come out of the factory like that ? PeterO There are a bunch of cold soldered pins. And the black plas...

Re: When are people in the U.S. getting their Pi 4s?

Mine arrived this morning, shipped on the 28th I believe. 2 weeks by snail mail. I cheaped out on the shipping so thats about how long it usually takes to get to me from the UK. Sometimes I get it in as little as 10 days.

I saw some posts mentioning tacking on deliveries. I live in Canada. If I order from Adafruit in the US, its tracked right to my front door. All the Canadian sorting facilities etc are listed. I'll even get out for delivery entry. I believe its sent via DHL Tracked and signed. If I order from Pimoro...

Re: Got too many raspberries?

I have only had two RPi's die ever. I find the Zeroes are pretty unreliable. I have a couple of them which refuse to put anything on HDMI, even after tweaking the config.txt. They run headless, so it is not critical. I just start their SD card on another Pi. I have another Zero that works, but the ...

I would have said inexpensive instead of cheap ;) . I bought what I know works and was tested to work on a Pi 4, like the official one was. Not all that hard to do.
