Re: espeak and python

Hmmm, now I'm confused again. If I try and find that file I find it in ./pymodules/python2.7/espeak/espeak.py I'm using Raspian Wheezy. If I edit it there's nothing about EspeakDriver._defaultVoice = self.getProperty('voice') and it looks nothing like this http://nullege.com/codes/show/src@pyttsx-1....

Re: espeak and python

Yes, that's where the code is from, thanks for the inspiration Francois.

It was you're article that got me started :-)

I'll try the fix and see how I get on.

Re: espeak and python

Hi Dave,

The python-espeak seemed to install ok but I'm not having any luck getting it running in a python script.

I'll keep playing around with it to see if I can get it to work.

espeak and python

Hi all, I'm trying to write a program to help my son with his spellings. I'm having problems hiding the alsa output when I use the espeak command within python. The code is as follows (not mine, taken from some one elses)... def say(something): os.system('espeak -ven+f3 "{0}"'.format(something)) Fro...

Clock is showing GMT not BST

Hi folks,

How do I change the clock in my LXDE to show BST instead of GMT. It's always an hour behind.

I'm using Raspbian Wheezy dated 16th Aug 2012.

Thanks,

Chris

Capturing key press in python

Hi folks, We've written a flashing LED game that we want to be able to hit the space bar when all 3 LEDs are on. So far the only thing we've been able to do is hit <CTRL> - C to stop, is it possible to capture code it so it waits 10 seconds when the SPACE bar is pressed and then resumes. Thanks. Cod...

Running Idle as root from desktop

Hi folks,

I'm using IDLE to have a go at programming in Python. Even though there's an icon on the desktop I can't use it because I need it to run as root.

How do I get the icon to run as root instead of having to open a terminal window and doing sudo idle.

Thanks,

Chris

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the Raspberry Pi, I think it's the greatest idea since the BBC Micro, it's linux that was driving me nuts. I'm a good example of the person a Pi was brought out to help. I'm so used to Microsoft and how most things just work. They seem to get the rough e...

Can I get it running on the standard debian build? I didn't realise that...The wiki sort of took me in the direction of openelec or raspbmc. I'll try that next then...

and thanks JeremyF, I used your link to the OPENElec image and it worked first time, I wish I had that at the start :)

Hi folks, As the Raspberry Pi is such a passive machine compared to a PC I'd like to be able to send Wake On Lan packets from it to the other PC's on my network. I see on the forums plenty of people wanting to have the Pi wake up from a request but nothing about the Pi sending out requests to other ...

I'm trying to install it with

sudo apt-get install logmein.deb

but it says it can't find the file.

What am I doing wrong :?:

Thanks.

Re: Need to increase disk size but parted seems to be missing

Hi Abishur,

Thanks for the help.

Installed parted and see what you mean, not very friendly so downloaded gparted as an iso and used that to repartition the disk before booting into it.

Thanks for the help.
