Re: Video Converter HandBrake 0.10.5 for RPi2&3

I'm now on RPi3, not overclocked and I'm getting 8.8 avg fps transcoding a DVD ISO image to mkv (High profile, cropping a bit, sound and subtitles passthrough). Core temperature is between 70 and 72 °C, so no CPU throttling will reduce transcoding speed If anybody wants to test my Handbrake build, ...

Cases with built in LED and IR Sensor?

I'm interested in getting a case for my media center Pi that has a built-in LED (for email inbox alert) and IR Sensor (for GPIO use). Google has not been very helpful, so I figured I'd ask here.

Does anyone know if such a thing exists, or would I be better off making my own somehow?

Re: Set VNC resolution?

Okay, I had to monkey with it for a while, but I got it working. It looks like it uses 5900 for the bundled server, but when you start it from the CLI it shows something like "192.168.1.99:1", where the appended 1 is the "display number". It turns out the port to connect to is 5900 + that number, wh...

Re: Set VNC resolution?

If I'm understanding correctly, you're saying that I should disable the bundled VNC server, install a different one, and change the setting for that one?

Re: Set VNC resolution?

I don't think it's in virtual mode. The settings indicated are the ones for setting the desktop resolution. I've already checked them and they're as I set them.

Thank you, though.

Set VNC resolution?

So I have a headless Pi2 running Raspbian (all up to date) and I connect to it using the bundled VNC. I've set the resolution in raspi-config as low as 640x480, but when I connect via VNC it's always at 1280x900. My question is thus how can I set the VNC resolution, since setting the desktop resolut...

Re: Removing Wolfram Desktop Icons

As mentioned in the OP, the Wolfram files are not present there. However, I noticed that the icons did not appear when I created a new desktop geometry with tightvncserver. I think it may be cached somewhere, so I'll mess with it tomorrow and report back.

Re: Removing Wolfram Desktop Icons

I don't seem to have that. Unfortunately I'm using the pre-netmods version of Wheezy because of network configuration issues. I'm guessing that this feature was added more recently.

Thank you in any case. I guess I can just ignore the icons for now.

Re: Removing Wolfram Desktop Icons

Appreciated, but I'm not trying to remove icons from the application launch bar. I'm trying to remove items from the menu.

Removing Wolfram Desktop Icons

Hello. I been uninstalling some of the bloat from my Pi and I removed Wolfram/Mathematica using: sudo apt-get purge wolfram-engine sudo apt-get autoremove But Wolfram and Mathematica still have menu icons in LXPanel's Menu. I read that the icons there are populated from /usr/share/applications, but ...

Re: Pi2B as a NAT for Playstation 3 (wlan to eth)

I restarted from scratch using the pre-netmods version of Wheezy and I've got it working great. First I manually set the nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf, then I un-commented the ipv4 forwarding line in /etc/sysctl.conf. Then I just made my /etc/network/interfaces as follows: auto lo iface lo inet loo...

Pi2B as a NAT for Playstation 3 (wlan to eth)

Hello. I'm familiar with networking, and I can get around bash, but I'm not really up on the fiddly details of routing and such in Raspbian. What I'm trying to do is configure my PI for as a combination media server and router for my PS3 (the wifi in the PS3 is on its way out). My objective for the ...
