Re: Issues with Window Update to 10.0.10586.63

you can't (or shouldn't) build a commercial product on closed-source free software (it's probably also against their license terms). Microsoft seems to indicate the contrary on their page about commercialization of IoT Core based devices : "There are two paths to commercialize Windows 10 IoT Core t...

Re: Issues with Window Update to 10.0.10586.63

Obviously you wouldn't use the free version for a commercial product. To be honest I don't see what's obvious about that. There seems to be a whole lot of commercial products based on a free operating system today... But agreed that we are still fairly early on stability and feature set of this Win...

Re: Issues with Window Update to 10.0.10586.63

Interesting info on how to disable automatic updates, thanks for that. However I wonder if this will stay possible in future versions, since Microsoft seems to base its commercial model on those auto-updates (and whichever functionality they will force upon the Win10 IoT user in the future). I was p...

Re: PI VS WIN 10

"Any idea if different keyboards will be supported any time soon, or do we have to wait for a full desktop version? " A full Desktop version? What would that include? I referred to the version you mentioned : "a IoT Desktop is in alpha/beta which performs the same actions on the Pi that a full Desk...

Re: PI VS WIN 10

AFAIK there is only a US English keyboard and OS language (i.e. error messages, etc.) in 10586 Win IoT. MS have announced no plan to offer any alternatives at present. Ok, thanks for the info. This means back to Raspbian then for me. I am planning a Pi application which can be controlled remotely b...

Re: PI VS WIN 10

If anyone is interested I can share the alpha code (which does need bringing up to 10586. I'm not interested in a Win10 IoTdesktop, but in the screenshots I do notice some essential features being added, like configuration of the UI Culture (which I guess will include keyboard setup). To me the cur...

Re: Disabling Automatic Windows Update

I just recently started playing with a Win10IoT Raspi, and already I get super annoyed with that automatic Windows Update policy. Now when things start to go wrong with no reason, of course we will blame the last update forced upon us. For instance: I started just a few weeks ago with a fresh instal...

Re: WebSockets in Windows 10

@informed - I was waiting for GitHub to verify my newly created account. I posted an issue a few minutes ago - the changes are so small they will probably fix it soon on their main branch.

Re: WebSockets in Windows 10

Thanks for the interesting "IoTWeb" link! The UWP projects don't compile in their current state (incorrect interface implementation), but the fixes are obvious - can be copied from the Desktop projects. I also noticed that a minor code change is needed to get websockets working from Edge. In the Upg...

Re: Direct Memory Mapped GPIO driver

Would it be possible to use the Lightning GPIO driver in a node.js application? I had no problem trying it out in a UWP app, but would like to know if there is a way to access the Microsoft.IoT.Lightning.Providers namespace within a nodejs javascript project - for instance in the "Webserver Blinky (...
