Python 3.7.3 and 2.7.16 speed tests for Buster

Buster brings us Python 3.7.3 and 2.7.16 which both seem to give a general improvement over Python 3.5.3 and 2.7.13 installed by default under Stretch - For a simple Fibonacci benchmark - def Fibonacci(n): if n <= 1 : return n else : return Fibonacci(n-1) + Fibonacci(n-2) print(Fibonacci(24)) Previo...

Re: ScriptBasic

it's pretty much achieved simply by concatenating the various components and adding a simple 'directory' pointing to where they are in the file. Using a C compiler and linker to do the same job sounds like overkill (one can't assume such tools will be available in Windows). I would guess it side-st...

Re: Windows 10 ARM64 (Dekstop, not IOT)

I would expect those striving to get Windows 10 Desktop to work on ARM or a Pi are doing that, rather than helping get ReactOS ported, because they believe that's what most people are wanting, where the kudos and critical acclaim lies. I imagine their response might be; why are people working on Re...

Re: ScriptBasic

When you are ready to distribute your ScriptBasic applications you have the option to compile your scripts to C. That "compile your scripts to C" is somewhat misleading. What one can do is combine the ScriptBasic interpreter with a script's virtual object code to create a single executable, and thi...

Re: Multi-Seat use of RPi 4

From some initial looking, it would seem that http://multi-seat.com/raspbian-dual-monitors/ ... seem to be the natural place to start the adventure That guide worked well for setting up dual monitors on my Pi 3B under Stretch, using HDMI plus DisplayLink, but I don't know how it fares with the new ...

Re: BaCon - BASIC to C converter

Does BaCon have GPIO support? It should work, but I've not managed to get an "IMPORT "something" FROM lib$ ..." command to work without throwing a 'library file not found" error. I guess it also requires a wrapper for the native C code, something to export the "something" name to BaCon, and provide...

Just to note that, whatever the problem is, it's still foreshortening to "Front Cen" using Buster on a 3B -

Code: Select all

aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav

Code: Select all

I hope they will be able to release Scratch 3 Desktop for the Raspberry Pi now that the new Raspberry Pi is a lot more capable.
The issue of there not being an off-line editor, "Scratch 3 Desktop", is not Pi specific. MIT don't currently have a "Scratch 3 Desktop" available for any version of Linux.

Re: Missing labels on the schematics 4b

All good many thanks, I just wasn't sure of the power management chip (MxL7704) but I did find a picture of the Pi and I saw the part number from there, just would have been nice to see that on the schematic I agree. It may not be that useful for most people but is useful for some, but not that use...

Have BaCon not erase the generated C source for your Fibo. (command line option) Then you will see why I don't use BaCon.
But how terrible / obtuse / impenetrable / inflexible the C may be really doesn't matter if the Basic program runs and does what is expected of it.
